Latvia's Supernova that serves as national selection for Vienna 2015 Eurovision comes to an end this Sunday. After last sundays semifinal only four acts are remaining. Below is a recap of their way to the final, as I haven't followed this selection this year.
The Jury chose to the semifinal from the first semifinal:
Antra Stafecka - It's the night
Framest - Ziema
and the televoters:
Mntha - Nefelibata
Elektrofolk - Sundance
The jury chose to the semifinal from the second semifinal:
Rihards Berzins - Your eyes
Euphony - Home
and the televoters:
Markus Riva - Take me down
Aminata - Love injected
The jury chose in the semifinal to the final:
Elektrofolk - Sundance
Markus Riva - Take me down
and the televoters:
Aminata - Love injected
Mntha - Nefelibata
First of all it seems Latvians have gone very Eestilaul as the songs are rather un-Eurovision and original and the final four is rather exciting. How they will do in Vienna is another matter. Apparently Aminata is the big favorite and indeed she's good but then, how many female sung dramatic mid-tempos do we have already for Vienna?! Mntha would surely stick out like a .... err... don't know if in a good or bad way but it would stick out. Elektrofolk is interesting mixture of folk and elektro, surprisingly. That leaves us with Markus Riva, at it again but this time with a male version of the mid-tempo drama ballad we have by females times a zillion already for Vienna. I can't decide. In one way or another I like all of them, and would welcome all of them to Vienna for various reasons. I'll be totally nonchalant and vote for Riva because he has that beauiful video with awesome colors and images.
