Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Tusse took a clear victory in Melodifestivalen 2021 final winning both jury and televotes against all wishes by the usual fandom that wanted Eric Saade or most of all Dotter simple because who they are, no matter what they sing. Readers of this blog know I'm not so fond of Mello finding it very overrated and in my opinion the best song won this time. It had some realness in it, a catchy melody and hook and Tusse sung better than most. And yes, Dotter was beaten by The Mamas again by one point! Why do I find that rather amusing? Full results: 1. The Mamas could become the 27th artist from 2020 season to have it another go this year, if they win tonight Melodifestivalen 2021. Besides them Eurovision 1999 winner Charlotte Perrelli (1999, 2008) and veterans Eric Saade (2011) and Arvingarna (1993) are in, with previous fan favorites and runner ups Dotter (2020) and Danny Saucedo (runner up for both Eric Saade 2011 and Loreen 2012). Another favorite is Idols 2019 winner Tusse and a total outsider against all odds Clara Klingeström. The Swedish Melodifestivalen caravan ended its journey to Friends Arena, packed with tens of thousends of people with no fear of Coronavirus. Twelve acts made it this far and for the first time since 1971-72 last year's winner won again. Sort of. The Mamas were backing John Lundvik last year but now claimed the spotlight to themselves and took a bit of a surprise win. A very close one. It was a family affair the mamas against the daughter in the end both the juries and televoters.... A very close race indeed overal votes going everywhere. One could say the standard was so high people didn't think what to vote. I rather think it was the opposite, it was so medicore people didn't know what to vote and there was no stand out entry whatsoever.  The Mamas are American Ashley Haynes, Loulou Lamotte and Dinah Yonas Manna. Last few weeks have had some Eurovision related releases outside the national final bubble from previous winners and other well placed acts. Enjoy! Dima Bilan released last year his yet another addition to his endless string of hits at home soil.  Океан (Ocean) is an atmospheric ballad and comes with a nature filled beautiful video.... Fabrizio Moro has released today video for Ho bisogno di credere (I need to believe), first offering from his new and 10th studio album Figli di nessuno , out April 12. It's a melancholic ballad with some pseudo rapping (and no trademark screaming) and video that fits nicely with the overal mood. Very good! Last year's Eurovision 3rd placed César Sampson has finally released a follow up to his Nobody but you called Stone cold . Sweden has its third Meloifestivalen 2018 semifinal tonight and it's still very bland. When I saw Cuba libre in the title I was expecting something great. Instead, I don't feel Cuba in it at all and I should know, I still have the Cuban suntan on my skin! It sounds like Swedish mock song with African rhythms and the ladies "dressed as Cubans" are ridiculous and more of a joke. As Cuban as Booga-loo dansa rockenrolla. ... Shame on you. Shame! Where are now those people who shout out for using Indian headpieces of Sami dresses? This is as embarassing and bad - and so wrong. Also Mendez seems to be mocking flamenco dancers. What's going on?! But at least the song is better, and not so obviously fake. Actually the only song I liked a bit in this semi.
