Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

A bit disappointing viewing figures in Finland for the Eurovision song contest. The final gathered infront of the television an average of 675.000 (1.392.000 turned in for at least 3 minutes), a bit better than last year's 650.000, and the first semifinal where Finland was participating 580.000 (1.181.000). That's a lot less than last year when Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät attracted 889.000 viewers. The second semifinal did the worst,  297.000 (607.000). Last year it was still 351.000. This however makes the top-3 of YLE2 channel's weekly chart.  And if you think Finns aren't watching tv you are wrong: they are watching the Ice Hockey Wolrdchampionships in Russia, where Finland has yet to lose a game. The matches are watched by 1,4-1,6 million viewers with peaks over 2 million.....  So far Finland has beaten Slovakia 5-0, France 3-1, Hungary 3-0, USA 3-2, Germany 5-1, Belarus 6-2 and is leading it's B-group. Something this Eurovision blogger has been totally ign...

Krista Siegfrids is very happy about her performance she declares, despite coming only 24th. She's proud of her Team Ding Dong (and so are we!) and tweeted right after the results congratulations to Emmelie and stated that she will kiss everyone tonight! Way to go, girl! Ding dong! It wasn't such a good day for Finns, first we lost to Sweden in ice hockey world championships and will play only of bronze tomorrow instead of gold, and then the success that all polls and betting odds promised in Eurovision didn't materialize....Also the zero points from Sweden made headlines in the media..... But YLE is ready for Denmark  2014 and has launched UMK 2014 already....

The Ice Hockey World Champion songs dominated the charts in 2011 and they all made it to the list but so did Paradise Oskar's Eurovision song. Fun rappers Petri Nygård, Lord Est and Jare & VilleGalle made a mark as well as did Chisu, Erin and Arttu Wiskari and even Jenni Vartiainen, whose number one of 2010 made it still to #12 in 2011 (similar fate of being on top in two years might wait Chisu's Kohtalon oma ). It is rather significant there are only a very few songs in English, highest them being Lauri's Heavy at #13. Later I will run down the foreign songs of 2011.The list is based on both single and download charts: 1. Poju - Poika (saunoo) 2. Petri Nygård ft Lord Est - Selvä päivä 3. Haloo Helsinki - Maailman toisella puolen 4. Jukka Poika - Silkkii 5. Jare & VilleGalle & Märkä-Simo - Häissä 6. Chisu - Sabotage 7. Erin - Vanha nainen hunningolla 8. Lord Est ft Petri Nygård - Reggaerekka 9. Laura Närhi - Mä annan sut pois 10. Anna Järvinen ft Ola...

Well, this was expected. it's a real Finland Vs. Sweden this weekend in media. Not only tonight will Paradise Oskar (born Octover 23, 1990) try to beat Eric Saade (born October 29, 1990) but tomorrow night Finns try to beat Swedes in the final of the Ice Hockey World championships as well. Will it be 1-1 or 2-0 to one of us? Sweden looks stronger on table but Finland has been extremely lucky and also beat Russia last night 3-0 so are they in the right track now? Sweden did this double already back in 1991 with Carola and ice hockey - will it be Finland's turn to taste this sweet double celebration?
