WHAT I LISTENED TO IN THE 80'S, vol. 34 - JEAN-JACQUES GOLDMAN

Jean-Jacques Goldman, one of my great musical loves. I came across him thanks to the French Cultural Centre in Helsinki, where I used to go and borrow vinyls... He has written such great music that it was hard to choose the four songs here. My love for him continued all the way to the end of his recording career (as we know it) and his various projects and songs written and produced to other artists, like Céline Dion whose French success is mainly thanks to him in her adult life, Patricia Kaas and Patrick Fiori. Sadly his last studio album is from 2001 but he's still active somewhat writing and producing, and made an appearance in Fiori's Les gens qu'on aime video. Hopefully he will still release his music as a singer, too. Pretty please? He has had a huge impact in the French music industry and in 2012-2013 for example two tribute albums were recorded by the young talents under title Genération Goldman , both hitting #1 in the French charts and selling about one m...

WklVids: Amel Bent & Soprano, Annalisa, Great Wide North, Klapa Campi

Génération Goldman volume 2 is hitting the shops in France featuring once again Jean Jacques Goldman classics revisited by young singers of today (including Amandine Bourgeois). The first single of the follow up is Quand la musique est bonne performed by Amel Bent & Soprano . Goldman's original is from 1982. Annalisa won the Italian OGAESC selection with Alice e il blu and will try to bis Nina Zilli's victory last year. Great Wide North from UMK 2013 released earlier this summer We're the sound with a cool video to go with it. The boys from the north went all the way to Spain to film it. Croatian Klapa Cambi has released Jidra mog vapora with a beautiful video. A bit like their Eurovision 2013 entry. Beautiful...

GÉNÉRATION GOLDMAN!

Jean-Jacques Goldman is one of this blogger's favorite French artists and the man who did adult Céline Dion in French, so to speak. He hasn't released solo material since 2001 but his music lives on, most recently in France where a tribute album has been released and become the hit of the season, Génération Goldman featuring some big names of the music industry of younger generation, including M Pokora, Shy'm, Emmanuel Moire, Christophe Willem, Amaury Vassili, ZAZ and Baptiste Giabiconi, the world's highest paid male model and Karl Lagerfeld's muse turned into pop singer. It's like a Christmas came early present! Fantastic! What a nice trip back to past and my musical history of the 1980's and 1990's! The covers are nicely kept pretty close to the originals, just with a new voices and maybe slightly updated sounds. For me this is the music event of the year! Here below you can compare the versions and enjoy some great music if you don't his work ...
