Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

I may be wrong but it feels like this year there have been more Eurovision veterans in the national finals hoping for another go than ever before! And I'm talking only about the artists, not songwriters. Below is a list of all of 36 of them and their respective placements in respective national finals . Two won, two came second. Not a great track record is it? "Instead of meat I eat veggies and pussy, I like them both fresh, like them both juicy...."   The award for most memorable opening line of any Eurovision entry goes to Supernova 2022 winners Citi Zēni aka Other boys and their Eat your salad . Citi Zēni was formed two years ago in a songwriting camp in Riga. They are Jānis Pētersons, Dagnis Roziņš, Reinis Višķeris, Krišjānis Ozols, Roberts Memmēns and Toms Kagainis. Their debut album Dogs take to the streets was released last year. Samanta Tina was 6th time lucky as she finally won Supernova 2020 and will fly the Latvian flag in Rotterdam 2020. The song is co-written by Eurovision veteran Aminata Savadogo. Energetic and noisy without a melody, that's what I think and really don't like this one bit. There, I said it.  The winner was chosen this time by public only by televote and internet vote.  1.   Latvia's Supernova 2019 invited 33 entries for live auditions , out of 83 submissions, and a jury chose 16 of them for the semifinals. And yes, Markus Riva is there for the sixth year in a row.... And Aminata has found yet another prettyboy to perform her song. This time Alekss  Silvērs. Overal Latvians seem ratheer inspired by last year's Fuego as there are two Fires and one Fireworks .... Err, is that Despacito ? Oh dear.... Soledad really has got inspiration in the verses but here it is. So is Aminata. I didn't even know What I had with you is her song but instantly thought it is when it started playing and had to check. Yes. It is. I don't know anymore if she's copying herself year after year or if she can't really write any other sounding songs? The rest is rather boring and useless and leaves me indifferent. I have no idea who the two qualifiers will be.....   Latvia has also revealed their Supernova 2018 entries, and among them several names from Markus Riva and Aminata as songwriter. And of course very  Despacito inspired entry.... but also Riva goes for the Latin vibe, will it be his turn this time? Aminata on the other hand copies herself as every year her entries become weaker and weaker copies of the original idea while the singers also seem to get weaker.... As usual and often in Latvian (and Lithuanian) semifinals, a lot of rather anonymous jazzy simil artsy lounge music that doesn't please anyone but jurors, if even them. MADARA is the early fan favorite..... 93 songs were submitted this year, but only 63 fulfilled the rules and these 21 made the cut. Sanna Nielsen is a real Midsummer girl and Aminata don't want to be anything less either... while Emma keeps milking her 21st place with self irony.... and Tooji celebrated his birthday with flowers in his hair.
