 Now as Spain has withdrawn from Eurovision song contest at least in 2026, let's have a look of some Spanish favorites of mine over the year. Second Big5 to get treatment by The Bicycling reporter Robert is the Spanish group El Sueño de Morfeo, nicknamed ESDM for this Eurovision adventure. Raquel (vocals), David (acoustic guitar) and Juan Luis (electric guitar) form the band. Eurovision. Canarias. Asturias. Sanremo. Latin America. Luca Barbarossa.... It's all here. And who would they sent to Eurovison next year for Spain? Robert: Hola ESDM! Thank you for this interview. What does your name mean? David: Morpheus brings dreams to people. We liked it as our dreams to make music came reality! Robert:How long have you been together? And how did you meet? Raquel: Ten tears already. I first met David in my country, in Canarias.... Good news for all Umberto Tozzi fans. He releases tomorrow his greatest hits in all new arrangements and recordings titled Yesterday . A double with 36 singles from the mid-70's to 2012, including a brand new duet with Francis Gabrel in Petite Marie . Available in Spain, Belgium and Switzerland at first. But that's not all. In May he will released another double in all markets under title Yesterday, today that includes twelve new songs and another CD with 17 of his biggest hits. The Spanish edition of the later includes also duets with Sergio Dalma ( Tu ) and OBK ( Falsa moral ). Umberto Tozzi is a million sellers whose songs have been worldwide hits by himself but often also my other singers like Laura Branigan ( Gloria , Ti amo ) and recently by Sergio Dalma and David Civera . And then there's Carola . But his originals are the real thing: Tu , Ti amo , Gloria , Eva , Si puó dare di piú and Gente di mare . 

We already know the singer and we also know the songs but tonight we will find out which one she will take to Baku 2012 with her. Pastora Soler was internally selected (muchissimas gracias TVE for not putting us through endless cating shows and mix and match song disasters this year!). Three songs and a televote. And on top of that Pastora will sing with Sergio Dalma, Malú and David Bustamante. Sounds like a perfect evening to me! I like all three songs and don't really have a favourite .... Quédate conmigo Tu vida es tu vida Ahora o nunca

Not only Sergio Dalma is having success with covers in Spain but also sparkly smiled David Civera has released an album full of classics, this one also featuring some Italian songs like Umberto Tozzi's Ti amo . Seems like David managed to release it as a single before Sergio. The original by Tozzi sold over 8 million copies worldwide and is surely one of the songs most everyone knows to some degree all over the world. And to keep dear Umberto filled with royalties David also covers Gloria , previosly hit to Tozzi , late Laura Branigan and Carola . Just to name a few. Oh, and the best Ti amo cover comes from before mentioned, sadly underrated Laura Branigan. And back to David. He has stated he would like to do it again. Eurovision that is. He has a song ready for Baku 2012 and is waiting for an invitation....

Sergio Dalma's Via Dalma has had a sequal Via Dalma II or more Italian hits covered by Sergio. Spanish seem to like them a lot as I heard El mundo all the time when in Spain. He has also released a DeLuxe version of the lot including both albums and extras, like the Italian version of his Eurovision entry, Ballare stretti . There's also cover of Umberto Tozzi's Ti amo but more about that later.... One of the less fortunate versions must be Por Elisa that Alice does so much better I must say... as original and remixed . The best cover remains no doubt Aram Quartet's .

Daniel Motiño Camúñez reports: Sergio Dalma has been rewarded with a gold disc after achieving more than 50.000 sales from his last album Via Dalma . The album is a compilation of 12 italian classic hits, adapted and translated in Spanish. Il piccolo Cutugno as Toto introduced Sergio Dalma in Rome after his performance has been always the perfect physical and vocal profile to perform this kind of hits. The lead single is Umberto Tozzi's Tú . Other songs feature songs by Riccardo Cocciante, Sandro Giacobbe, Claudio Baglioni and even Alice's Por Elisa . Sergio has been recording covers of Italian hits throughout his career and is fairly known also in Italy.  Unfortunately Sergio did not pick up the best place to receive the award; the trash/camp show Salvame from the horrendous TV sender Tele-5, the same show that tried to boicot Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by promoting Karmele entry Soy un Tsunami . Actually they tried again but this time TVE was wiser than before...

RTVE has announced details about their final on February 22. Previous entrants Sergio Dalma and Rosa will be guest stars along with David Bustamante, who was one of the finalists along with Rosa in Operación Triunfo and her backing singer in Eurovision, and has then built a very succesful career. His latest single is Abrázeme muy fuerte , while Rosa's is De haber sabido . Sergio Dalma will release a new album in March and the first single off it is Mientras tanto . A combination of jury and televotes will decide the winner for Oslo 2010 out of the ten finalists that qualified from the internet voting.
