Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Sebastiano Pàu-Lessi (28 aka Sebalter), from the Italian speaking part of Switzerland will sing in Copenhagen his Hunter of stars . A song composed with cellphone during a coast to coast in the States. This singer-songwriter and fiddler started his solo career a couple of years ago after being in hardrock band The Stalkers and then after in The Vad Vuc, a folk rock band. He started playing classical music and violin at the age of 6, so he's a multi instrumentalist, as he plays also guitar and bass.  He's currently working on his debut solo album. Robert: The Swiss preselection was not so interesting this year. Lots of ok songs where none really stood out. And thats a pity, because would it not have been great if Switzerland would win this year so that we can celebrate 60 years of Eurovision next year in the first country where Eurovision wa staged? Switzerland is staging its final this Saturday and we have six finalists chosen late last year with three different selection processes by three different broadcasters. The final comes from the Arena of Kreuzlingen, and there will be 50-50 televote-jury vote. 3ForAll - Together forever The song is kinda nice accordeon driven happy little song taking a lot of ideas from the Balkans, I'm not just sure if the performers are right for it? I would have put one single performer and turned up the beat. Then - it could be a winner. Christian Tschanz - Au paradis Lovely voice, beautiful French ballad. Maybe not instant enough for Eurovision but a classy one. Old fashioned but in a good way.  Natasha & Stéphanie - Une terre sans vous Another French ballad. But this one sounds a bit tired and uninspired. The girls sing nicely but this makes me only think of the contents of my fridge and other things. Concentration gone in like 30 seconds which is not a good sign.... And...

3 For All, Nino Colonna, Yasmina Hunzinger, Christian Tschanz, Natacha & Stéphanie and Sebalter are the Swiss finalists. Of all the songs put online in the end these were selected and one can only wonder what the jury has been after? Certainly not an Eurovision winner. This said, the songs aren't bad but I hope they all go back to studio and rework them... We have 3 For All with their sound that has been used a lot in Romanian Europop in recent years with success, why not exploit it fully and turnit  up a little bit more? Nino Colonna comes with a middle of the road AOR and Yasmina Hunzinger continues with a power ballad with country undertunes being maybe the most Eurovisionary of the lot. Natacha & Stéphanie offer an atmospheric ballad that sounds like a demo and needs a new arrangemetn badly. Christian Tschanz offers a tender ballad with great voice, very French and actually one of my favorites but somehow I doubt it will work on Eurovision stage that well. Sebalter h...
