Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

One of the marathon selections of this year (again) comes to an end. After four heats, two semifinals, several changes in the line up and 49 songs we have only eight left, two of them sung by Monika Marija until she withdraw one of them this week, and line up includes also two Eurovision veterans Jurgis DID of InCulto fame (2010) and his wife Erica Jennings of Skamp fame (2001) performing together. There's everything from jazzy groovers to angry female rappers and Turkish bazar humour.  Only two songs have scored full votes from both jury and televoters in each passage: Monika Marija's Light on and Jurijus' Run with the lions . Jurijus is also my favorite along with Monika Marija. But with Criminal , the song she withdraw, and now also Jurijus is propably facing a date related disqualification.... (Update: Case closed. Lithuania is again milking it seriously with Eurovizijos atranka 2019. A total of 49 participants with shows starting on January 5 including four heats, two semifinals and the grand final on February 23. Some familiar names among the participants from previous years and one Eurovision veteran: Jurgis Didžiulis fronted InCulto that funked in glittery shorts Lithuania to th 12th place in 2010. Update: Mis January three more songs were added to the line up and that adds two Eurovision veterans to the list. Erica Jennings will join her husband Jurgis and Sasha Song is back, too... I won't pronounce myself before the final as like last year Lithuania can be very misleading. A lot of useless songs that can hide among them even a jewel, like last year that I didn't notice until the final.... As usual, this post will be updated afteer each event.   Lithuania's national Eurovison selection has been dragging on forever but guess what? Last night we got the first finalists! Incredible but true. Strangely all three finalists fit into a same groovy genre, so is that what Lithuanians want for Eurovision this year? Hmmm.... Sadly Greta is out again after being saved by a wildcard...   Lithuania's selection Eurovizijos Atranka for Eurovision song contest 2018 received about 100 songs and 50 singers, and the chosen ones can either sing their own submitted songs, or choose another one from the submitted songs. After eight weeks and shows later we have finally reached the semifinal stage in Lithuania. Phew. Half the entries will be eliminated tonight after jury and televote compined votes.  I suppose Aisté does Claudia and wins with her 9th attempt finally, but I'm #teamGabrielius and #teamGreta . As long as these three are through it's all fine for me.  Incredible but true, in the end this Lithuanian semifinal is one of the best and most interesting of the season! At least they have more than one worthy song lined up! New year, new season begins for real as Lithuania gets its marathon selection going. In the first heat 12 entries will fight for the tickets to the next step, among them previous winner Sasha Song and previous fan favorite Samanta Tina and ex-Amberlife.
