Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Switzerland - Gjon's Tears - Répondez-moi One of those songs I think I should like more but in the end, no I don't. A big plus for bringing something in French instead of English, and something original and different that isn't manufactured to fit the Eurovision formula  written in some random international songwriting camp (even if apparently it is....). Original, haunting, beautiful ... but for me there's something missing to make it a standout song and a winner like it was in the various  betting odds pre-cancellation. On the other hand the first hearing felt a lot better than it is after a few hearings and people who vote... Once again the rumours were true: Gjon's Tears with a French language song, Switzerland's first since 2010, Répondez-moi will follow Luca Hänni on Euroviison stage. And what a relief Swiss didn't try to imitate the style that got them 4th place last year but went on to another direction and maybe honestly were looking for the best song, not the best sound. And we will have French in the contest after all, now that France decided to feature only few lines... Gjon's Tears is actually a five member band fronted by 21-year-old Gjon Muherramaj of Albanian and Kosovan roots but it seems for this adventure he is going solo? He has had already a lot of experience of events like this: He did Albania's Got Talent as 12-year-old and came third. The year after he reached semi-finals in Switzerland's Got talent. Last year he did The Voice of France and reached semi-finals, too.
