Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Yle organized among its other consolation Eurovision 2020 programming also a voting to find out the most loved Finnish entries of each decade ( here ). The 1980s were certainly a real rollercoaster giving us some of the best and some of the worst entries ever. Pitkästä aikaa ( After a long time ) is the very fitting name for the new Virve "Vicky" Rosti album, her first solo effort since 2007 to be released on September 19, 2014. The first single is Leikitään . But that doesn't mean she hasn't been around lately as she's been doing some reality entertainment on TV (where she even got to experiment singing in italian some opera ) and apparently she's on the road all the time alone or with her nostalgy band project Menneisyyden vangit . This is only her 8th solo album even if next year marks her 40th year in the business despite being only 55. She shot to the fame back in 1975 with her debut hit  Kun Chicago kuoli . Five hit albums followed with hits like Tuolta saapuu Charlie Brown , Näinkö meille täällä aina käy and Oon voimissain . She's also known for several other well done covers like Jolene and Rahaa, rahaa, rahaa , Sorry jos oon lady , Koputa puuta , Menolippu ,....  Come 1980's and the cov...

We are heading for the top but the names stay the same! Janne Raappana is here, too, as is Anssi Kela with one of his finest songs. Simo Silmu is here solo as he is also Yölintu's solist. Quite interesting and good selection of songs here. From Euroviisut/Eurovision Sillanpää, Laura and Kari Tapio. Two pretty good covers of evergreens like You raise me up and Autumn leaves. Laura and Jani with one of their best tracks. And the ever popular Irina, Tähkä, Plogman and Agents. And late Aki Sirkesalo to complate the set. 101. A couple of great tracks in this one, too, from Anna Eriksson, Egotrippi and Laura Voutilainen. Kari Tapio is here with his Euroviisut runner up and the rest is the usual dance band stuff spiced up with Pate Mustajärvi's effort.... Suvi Teräsniska has one song here and one more much much higher. Charles Plogman, Anssi kela, Matti ja Teppo and Agents are featured in this chosen ten once again. 121. A bit poor selection this time (and very few Youtubes available) but Jari Sillanpää is here with his Eurovision 2004 entry. Other Euroviisut artists are Jani & The Jetsetters and Kristian Meurman and once again present Kari Tapio. Even a charity single is included and a rockband, Egotrippi as well as girlband Tik Tak. Pentti Hietanen has just released a new album Rakastan elämää (I love life). Naturally it doesn't include his Eurovision song that will be sung in Italian but new material mixed with Finnish covers of some classics like MacArthur Park and The brigde over troubled water . As a nice prelude to his Euroviisut 2010 experience there is a cover of Päivä kahden ihmisen (Never the end), the Finnish entry 1986... in Oslo! An omen? Meanwhile here is his Finnish cover of an Italian classic Caruso . And here is Ti aspetteró that he apparently sent into Euroviisut 2002 but was rejected
