ESTONIA: EESTI LAUL 2018 FINAL TONIGHT

Estonia is selecting tonight and hoping the re-enter the final in Lisbon 2019 Eurovision song contest after to misses, the last one being even a 7th place, or rather "only" 7th place as Goodbye to yesterday was a massive favorite. And yes, Stig Rästa is back, and again he's one of the main contenders to win this with his Home . The biggest fan favorite seems to be La forza , an opera pop that hasn't done so great in Eurovision really so would it be a smart choice? Me thinks no. This said, those two are in my top-4 joined by Laura (Walk with me) that propably wouldn't go very far in Lisbon (or who knows?), and Sky , that wouldn't maybe work either. So, Home could be the smartest choice. Then again Lisbon is already full of simple acoustic songs by male singers... Hmm, tricky. Hopefully Estonians won't go crazy and choose Welcome to the world as Hungary already booked that slot, and the rest is... well.... the weird alternative stuff Eesti laul i...

ESTONIA: EESTI LAUL SEMIFINAL TWO TONIGHT

Estonia has its second Eesti laul 2018 semifinal tonight and will give us five more finalists. Tonight's offering is rather varied with some weird songs and honestly I have no idea how Estonians will vote - will they go for the safe or the alternative? It feels anyways like the favorites were already in the first semifinal a week ago. This blogger is all for Sky and Tempel , the rest it insignificant for me... Marju Länik - Täna otsuseid ei tee Rolf Roosalu - Show a Little Love Frankie Animal - (Can’t Keep Calling) Misty Eliis Pärna & Gerli Padar - Sky (wildcard) Indrek Ventmann - Tempel Evestus - Welcome to My World Karl Kristjan & Karl Killing feat. Wateva - Young Metsakutsu - Koplifornia Girls in Pearls - Spellbound Nika - Knock Knock

ESTONIA: LISTEN TO EESTI LAUL 2018 SEMIFINAL TWO ENTRIES

After yesterday's semifinal one entries Estonia revealed today the semifinal two entries. Like yesterday the goodies are far and apart, and below is my First hearing ranking . Eelis & Eurovision veteran Gerli deliver a timeless ballad that feels real and not manufactured for Eurovision, and therefor stands out. Indrek continues to deliver after Hispaania tüdruk , and a lot of experience in musicals in meantime. Tempel is lovely little tune. Karl & co go deep fishing from the sound of 2017 but don't come out that strong sadly. Marju's song includes Paradise Oskar (FIN 2011) among the songwriters, but... oh well. A local hit for sure and classic old school Eurovision but would this work in ESC 2018? Maybe not.  Then there's some pseudo eletro punk that goes to PKN way or lasts (thankfully) just barely 2 minutes. Add some monotonous indie pop, equally monotonous rap in Estonian, lounge disco and a very disappointing Rolf this bloggerwas expecting great th...

ESTONIA: HERE ARE THE 20 EESTI LAUL SEMIFINALISTS

Estonia's Eesti laul 2018 semifinalists have been revealed tonight. Among the contestants Eurovision veterans Stig Rästa and Gerli Padar , who's also Eurovision winner Tanel Padar's sister so real Eurovision royalty. This blogger always liked her Helsinki 2007 entry, so underrated by most.  Other familiar names Iiris Vesik , Rolf Roosalu (ex-Rolf Junior), Indrek Ventmann and Karl Kristjan . Mostly Estonian songwriters it seems with a very surprising name: Axel Ehnström aka Paradise Oskar among writers for the Marju Länik song. She's 60 and sings since 1970s.... Stig Rästa – Home Metsakutsu – Koplifornia Elina Netšajeva – La forza Aden Ray – Everybody’s dressed Frankie Animal – (Can’t keep calling) Misty Nika – Knock knock Iiris & Agoh – Drop that boogie Etnopatsy – Külm Vajé – Laura (Walk with me) Miljardid – Pseudoprobleem Tiiu x Okym x Semy – Näita oma energiat Desiree – On my mind Rolf Roosalu – Show a little love Eli...

Gerli Padar dances against swain flu

Estonia is one of the European countries that has not bought any vaccination against swain flu for its people for economical crisis. The situation isn't very bad yet, about 200 infected people but it is spreading fast. Meanwhile the Estonian healthcare has launched a campaign how to prevent from it featuring Gerli Padar, who sung for Estonia in Helsinki 2007 . She dances throught the ad that tells how to prevent from getting it; washing your hands and so on. Besides the ad in TV a special swain flu dance group performs in nightclubs and gatherings. In Finland swain flu is in full swing in the north and 6 people have died as of yesterday. Update: 7th victim today.

Some brave girls...

Gerli and Edsilia were brave enough to visit the Media Centre after the failed semifinal. I don't know what Gerli had to say as she said nothing but smiled to left and to right with a sadness in her eyes. Edsilia were more talkative or pissed off enough to speak her mind. However, the situation soon turned around and she was conforting the fans and saying "Honey, it really doesn't matter!" to anyone who was nice enough to tell her she deserved a final spot... At that moment she still didn't know if she was to stay or go but we had a great surprise on Saturday night when she popped in to give the Dutch votes!
