EMIN AFTER THE THUNDER. AND EUROVISION

Emin, who performed Never enoug h in the Eurovision 2012 final's interval act may have not gotten the boost he hoped for in the western Europe for his music. Most of the fans just dismissed him the second they heard he's the president's son-in-law and his dad's a multimillionaire. So what? (Hint: Alsou, anyone?) These facts put aside, Emin sings better than many of those in the charts today and he's easy on the eye, too, besides releasing good enough songs regularly. Should we give him another chance? Currently he has released   Сердце Бьется for the Russian market. The songs was originally released as Heart keeps beating  His latest single off his already sixth studio album After the thunde r is   Walk through walls . Here's the acoustic version. Another goodie is Baby get higher . Get to know Emin and his latest album here . And here's the somewhat troubled  Baku 2012 performance.

ESC 2012: INFO ON OPENING AND INTERVAL ACTS

It's three weeks to the main event and some more information on the opening acts of the semifinals and the grand final has been revealed today. It seems it's going to be a real cocktail of local and foreign music and artists. Some names involved in the preparations are Alim Gasimov, a mugham legend, mugham being a local form of folk music also recognized by Unesco when it added it in 2003 to the  Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Also local flavor will be given by Emin Agalarov. Or maybe not so local his style being nothing but Azeri like his latest Baby get higher . Then we will have  Natiq rhythm band and Azerbaijan National Dance Ensemble.  Also, local and foreign dance groups and DJs, a music band made of Eurovision Song Contest stars (!!!), participants of previous contests as well as other popular local and foreign singers will perform during the semifinals' interval acts. And this seems to be the part where Dima Bilan steps in...

Emin Agalarov as interval act

Why am I not surprised? Because I wrote this already last September and look, what happened? Emin didn't get to represent his country but will get the worldwide exposure by doing some amazing interval act number after all. And without the pressure of the competition. Smart. Very smart. This said, he is not bad, listen Falling for example. I'd like to think his marital relationships and father's billions might be more of a disadvantage than a benefit for his serious career....

Azerbaijan: Should they keep it in the family?

If your father is an Azeri born Russian billionaire, your friends include Eurovision winners Ell & Nikki and you are married to the daughter of president of Azerbaijan and your mother-in-law is put in charge for Eurovision affairs in the country what are the chances you might sing for Azerbaijan in Eurovision soon? Pretty good I guess. Or would it be just too shamelessly obvious? Let's see if it will happen. Emin Agalarov is trying to make his career in London with songs like Just for one night , Any time you fall , Obvious , Wonder and Still . He has released five albums since 2006 and they have charted both in Azerbaijan and Russia. He has managed to sneak into BBC2 radio as well with his songs.  And he has just signed a deal with EMI Germany for worldwide release. Let's see what spring 2012 brings us...
