Lordi drops, Maria enters... the Finnish Top-40 this week

It's not looking good for Lordi, or any other Eurovision related artists this week as all of them are going down: Lordi drops from #5 to #20, Celine Dion drops one place to #21, Johanna Kurkela 4 places to #23, Jari Sillanpää from #27 to #32. Both ABBA related entries also drop: Mamma mia! soundtrack to #34 and ABBA - The albums box to #40. Vesa-Matti Loiri however stays at #1 for the second week running. The only Eurovision related new entry is Maria Lund's Ajan sävel that enters at #25. She has made jazzy swing versions of Finnish pop-rock classics including Nightwish's Sleeping sun in Finnish! Hear it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5UWNzw-eyk and the original here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9s0U7u70CE Maria Alexandra Aspasia Lund-Ionitza (25) represanted Finland in this year's Eurovision dance contest with Mikko Ahti.

Maria & Mikko will tango to Wonderland

Maria Lund & Mikko Ahti, the Finnish couple in Glasgow's Eurovision dance contest 2008 will dance to the most loved tango in Finland, Unto Mononen's Satumaa (Wonderland). This tango is often described as the Finnish national tango and we all know how important tango is in Finland (eat your heart out, Argentina!). They presented their coreography in tonight's Eurotanssit 2008 show on YLE, prerecorded in Vanha, the ex-Euroclub in the heart of Helsinki. Laura Voutilainen and Janne Tulkki were also performing as well last year's EDC winners Katja Koukkula & Jussi Väänänen. Maria & Mikko will perform in the dresses pictured here.

Laura releases a new album

Laura Voutilainen ( pictured here with Maria Lund ) releases a new album next week and stars in tonight`s Eurotanssit 2008 show that presents the Finnish couple Maria Lund & Mikko Ahti and their dances for Glasgow's EDC. Two songs from the album, Monta monta and Palaa have been given already to radios. For information to follow...

Spain is out? Rosa is out???

It looks like Spain has dropped out of Eurovision dance contest 2008 just 17 days before the event leaving Rosa Lopez and Nieto sitting at home! Not fair. Europe's not living a celebration....

Who will follow Finland's steps? EDC no 2 is on its way

Eurovision dance contest is coming up again in less than three weeks. For the second time. UK is still hosting despite Finland winning the first edition last year like it was planned. I guess from this edition the winner gets to organize the next one? Anyways, one change is that the couples cannot be professionals so it is "one professional plus one national celebrity" dancing in Glasgow, after some protests due to the professionalism of the Finnish couple Katja Koukkula & Jussi Väänänen last year. Watch them dance here: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6bF6r8njjKg&feature=related and http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=H5hAPViU3pk&feature=related Anyways, here's the running order: 01 SWEDEN Danny Saucedo & Jeanette Carlsson 02 AUTRIA Dorian Steidl & Nicole Kuntner 03 DENMARK Patrick Spiegelberg & Katja Svensson 04 AZERBAIJAN Eldar Dzhafarov & Anna Sazhina 05 IRELAND Gavin O'Fearraigh & Dearbhla Lennon 06 FINLAND Mikko Ahti & Maria Lund 07...

EDC: Maria and Mikko for Finland

The winning pair of Tanssii tähtien kanssa or Dances with stars Maria Lund and Mikko Ahti will represant Finland in the Eurovision Dance Contest in Glasgow in September. As we all well remember Finland's Katja Koukkula and Jussi Väänänen won last year. Maria Lund is the daughter of late legendary Tamara Lund (she did Euroviisut in the 1960's) and singer herself.

WE WON!!!

Finland has won the first ever Eurovision Dance Contest leaving Ukraine second (again)... How funny it is: first we win nothing for 40 years and now after Eurovision Song Contest 2006 we win also the Dance Contest 2007. Should we participate in the Junior 2008? :-) I know nothing about dance but it was rather entertaining show. Graham Norton is always Graham Norton even if he wasn't being dirrty this time, much, and the Finnish pair Katja Koukkula and Jussi Väänänen did a great job amongst all circus numbers and Dance with the stars woodlegged amateurs (Sweden anyone?). Irish couple was cute, and Russia's first number was beautiful. Also Ukraine and Portugal are worth mentioning... Full ranking: 1. Finland 132, 2. Ukraine 121, 3. Ireland 95, 4. Poland 84, 5. Austria 74, 6. Portugal 74, 7. Russia 72, 8. Germany 59, 9. Denmark 38, 10. Spain 38, 11. Lithuania 35, 12. Netherlands 34, 13. Greece 31, 14. Sweden 35, 15. United Kingdom 18 and 16. Switzerland 0
