Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Eesti laul 2025 had 175 submissions in various languages: 65 in Estonian and the rest in English, Italian, German and French. The chosen line up announced in early November features various songwriters and artists from Finland, Sweden and Norway. A wild card act was added in January after an online voting. (See below) As for the Finns Felin is Elin Blom (with Fredrik Etoall) of Twister Sister fame in Finnish national selection 2010 with Love at the first sight placing 4th and later that year she took part in Swedish Idols placing 6th. and her song is co-written by Paul Rein aka Pauli Jokela. The girlband also won MGP Nordic the Finnish selection, the original Junior Eurovision in 2007 with Fröken Perfekt. Stereo Terror are Finns and their song co-written by Lauri Hämäläinen, a man behind songs to many big Finnish artists. Remember Elin Blom who fronted Sister Twister that represented Finland in the MGP Nordic , and then tried to get to represent Finland in the real thing before moving to Sweden and making herself known in the Swedish Idols ? Well, she has moved apparently to Los Angeles now and emerges with her debut American single and video Kung Fu ... Little girls grow up!

Finland is not taking part in the Junior Eurovision song contest but the original, MGP Nordic. The artists are 8-15 years old and write their own songs. Some of them have started their career here including Elin Blom who went ton to Euroviisut and Swedish idols. There was a televoting and a jury and the winner is... Oh well, watch yourself   here . And Paradise Oskar both did the jury job and performed on interval.And for once I totally agree with the results!

Vår tid - Vårt land or Our time - Our land is a single recorded by some Finnish Swedish speaking artists  under name Artister för tolerans och öppenhet (Artists for tolerance and openness) including Paradise Oskar, Geir Rönning, Elin Blom,  Nina Lassander, Ville Pusa - all known from Eurovision or Euroviisut, Swedish Idol or MGP Nordic along with Fredrik Furu, Andre Linman, Redrama, Frida Andersson and Krista Siegfrieds. I don't know what's the purpose of this affair? Is it pro-Swedish language, that some feel is threatened in Finland after True Finns election thriumph? As you may know Finland is a bilingual but the talk of making Swedish voluntary instead of obligatory in the school goes on since forever, and the chance this happening is maybe bigger than ever now (yet very far becoming a reality, me thinks). Finland has had several songs in Swedish in the national Eurovision finals over the years but only once a song in Swedish has won ( Fri? in 1990) which surely wasn'...

The other Finn Elin Blom is out from the Swedish Idol 2010. "It's very sad to leave but this is not the last you've heard of me. I'll be back, you'll see! This was the best I have ever done! " In Finnish media she was critizising the Finnish Idol when asked why she did the Swedish one saying the Swedish is so much better. Well, true... I guess. Anyways the Finnish one has given us Hanna Pakarinen , Antti Tuisku , Jani Wickholm , Katri Ylander , Agnes , Kristiina Brask , Anna Abreu , Kristian Meurman , Koop Arponen and Pete Parkkonen . After a break the 5th season will start next year in Finland while in Sweden there is the top-5 left...

Geir Rönning, the Norwegian who sung for Finland in Eurovision 2005 Why? made it to 7th in the Swedish idols 2010. I heard it through the grapewine didn't convince the voters anymore and Geir is out. Another Finn, Elin Blom is still in the running....

Both Finns in the running made it to the final 11 in the Swedish Idol 2010. Eurovision 2005 veteran Geir Rönning (47) made it against some critics due to his age and experience but so did also Elin Blom (16). She also has both MGP Nordic and Euroviisut 2009 experience. Now let's see how far they go in this Idols season that has been described "the strongest and the best" season so far by some critics.

Finnish Elin Blom (16) really made an impact in the Swedish Idols last night. "You are top-3 in the contest. You have the voice, the look, you're a dream artist" said the judges, "now that's a star", "she's got that something". Finland rulez! Here . Here she is with Sister Twister in MGP Nordic 2007 with Fröken perfect and here in Euroviisut 2010 with Love at the first sight . Is a star born? (This season is getting interesting, one has to follow also the Swedish idol and the Italian X Factor closely.... I need four eyes and ears for that!)

WTF? That's what I said to myself when I saw the headline. In the Swedish Idol there's no age limit (in Finland it's 30) and therefor whoever can take part. Geir Rönning (47), the Norwegian grooner who has participated in both the Norwegian and the Finnish national finals several times and even won and represanted Finland in 2005 with Why has progressed to the next stage in the selections. "I understand the ctitic but in the rules there's nothing that would make me unable to participate" he says. "Every artist is looking for visibility and the visibility the Swedish idols can give me is priceless" he states. "Nothing wrong in an old Ferrari" commented Anders Bagge, one of the judges and composer of the the Azeri entry in Eurovision 2010. But that's not all. Elin Blom, the lead singer of Sister Twister, that represanted Finland in the MGP and tried their luck in Euroviisut 2010 as well is also there.... She has now moved to Sweden and...
