Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Settembre has won the Newcomers final against Alex Wyse and thus follows the footsteps of likes of Eros Ramazzotti, Laura Pausini, Andrea Bocelli and Francesco Gabbani, just to name a few. In a close final he scores a total of 52,5%  of votes winning both Press and Radio jury but losing closely (49% vs. %1%) the televote won by Alex Wyse. Settembre also collected the Critic's award and the Press award. And average of 10.700.000 watched the third night with a share of 59.8% with a peak of 16 million watching at 21.32. In social medias the videoviews, whatever they mean, have been so far 63 million last night and 219 million since the beginning of the festival.  Andrea Settembre (24) from Naples.   Mahmood first tried his luck in Sanremo in 2016 placing fourth with Dimentica among the Newcomers. The ones doing better (and I say being understood easier) were certain Francesco Gabbani, and a certain Ermal Meta, and err... Chiara Dello Iacovo who we haven't heard ever since. But he did beat a certain Irama though, what a cast that year!!! This blogger loved Dimentica from the first hearing and also got very interested in Mahmood and certainly I haven't been disappointed the past few years when he's been belting out hits in steady stream and has won two Sanremo along the way, and almost won Eurovision, too. What a find!

  This Sicilian winner of Castrocaro 1987 new talent competition took part in Sanremo newcomers in 1993 with this song that I still love, Non volevo . He placed 6th (behind likes of Laura Pausini and Nek). I always thought he had something common with Battiato, Alice and likes and in fact he ended up working with Juri Camisasca in the 2000's besides writing for theater, films and television. Besides writing the fantastic pop number  Musica for Paolo Meneguzzi in 2007, that scored BIG in Latin America. 

  Michele Zarrillo, or simply Zarrillo won Sanremo newcomers 1987 with La notte dei pensieri . Thatb was however already his third Sanremo including 1982 when he sung Una rosa blu that later become an evergreen. So far he has returned to Sanremo ten times after that with a total of 13 participation collecting three Top-5 placements and several big hits, including Cinque giorni .

  RAI has made public the rules for the Sanremo 2021 festival and there's no change in the part that deals with the Eurovision song contest: The winner will be the one, if only the winner has signed the papers for it beforehand. If not, RAI will select whoever they please. That means it won't be Diodato, unless he decides to participate again and wins - or if whoever wins doesn't want to go and RAi picks him up IF he participates.  The major change comes in the Newcomers selection where there won't be those unfair direct duels anymore but half of them each night make the final and the final is between the four finalists. Other changes are in the voting system that now stands as listen here below, and the third night's covers: The First night the first ten Big will perform and are voted by both televote and the demoscopic jury. Another rating success for Sanremo 2020. The fourth night scored a share of 53,3%, the highest since 1999 with over 9,5 million Italians glued to their tv- screens.  Fiorello and Tiziano Ferro had a minor fight the night before for the lenght of Fiore's gags and the fact Tiz had to sing sometime at morning light (apparently) but last night they kissed and made up (apparently). Fiorello was accusing Ferro launching a hate campaign against him in socail medias and threatened to walk away.... maybe.  This said Ferro acted like an idiot after the kiss that was ment to be "almost there" but Fiorello did it for real. Ferro's esaggerated reaction as a gay man was rather enbarassing to watch.  Like if his husband will get angry for that for real. If he does maybe it's time to really divorce. Later in the evening there was a kiss between Fiorello (masked as Ghali) and Ghali, following that fake one between Elettra Lamborghini and Myss Keta the night before. ...

Sanremo 2020 continues its almost unexpected success. The third night scored an average share of 54,5% or 9,8 million viewers, the highest since 1997 and 8% more than last year. Tonight Amadeus with Fiorello and Tiziano Ferro will present the show with presenter Antonella Clerici and Francesca Sofia Novello, a model and Moto GP champion Valentino Rossi's girlfriend.  The guest stars will be Dua Lipa, Ghali, Johnny Dorelli and Gianna Nannini.  The Big will be voted tonight by accredited press only. and their votes will be added to the ones from previous nights.  The Newcvomers will have their final tonight and they will be voted by Demoscopic jury (33%), accredited press (33%) and televote (34%), with the usual duel system.  Ok, we started the night with the official ranking of the three nights and it isn't apparently as simple maths as it seemed in my pevious post as Gabbani is in the lead still! 1.
