Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

  Finally Raiven did it. After placing 2nd in 2016 with  Črno bel , 3rd in 2017 with  Zažarim and again 2nd in 2019 with Kaos . This time RTVSLO picked her internally with Veronika. There was indeed an open call for songs and approx 100 were received and a national final planned as well. That was canceled and December 12, 2023 it was announced Raiven was internally selected instead. The song Veronika was revealed on january 20, 2024 and it is co-written by last year's Joker Out's Bojan, Käärijä's loved side kick.  Raiven or Sara Briški Cirman (27) is a Slovenian singer, songwriter and harpist. She has studied classical music, before mentioned harp, and opera. She has won several awards in that field and has performed in several operas in Berlin, Prague, Tirana, Ljubljana, Brno, Budapest and Malta. She has also done musicals. Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl have won the Slovenian national final 2019 for Eurovision with their song Sebi . They beat Raiven in superfinal with 72,9% against 27,1%

Slovenia's EMA is back. A jury panel will pick up two songs for the superfinal where the televote alone determinates the winner. Raiven is back again, and Ula from Junior Eurovision 2014 debuts among adults. Actually she's one of the very, very few Jesc artists that I actually remember, Nisi sam was great! I think I know who I am supporting, at least until I hear the songs! After two semifinals it's time for the final in Slovenia. I don't really have any superfavorite here, but I'm content if the winner is one of these: Nika, Omar, Raiven, BQL or Tim. Surprisingly I might like the most Omar's old fashioned ballad while Raiven would be interesting but a bit demanding maybe for European televoters? Somehow Ema isn't anymore the kitchiest, funniest national final around it used to be years ago.... In a way it's a shame. Slovenia has its second semifinal tonight as just like last night first the televoters will send two songs to the final, and then the jury two additional ones from the leftovers.  Watch here 20.00 CET 1. Slovenian EMA tries the semifinals and final approach this time around. A total of 16 entries are in and four from each semifinal will advance to the final. Among the names several familiar ones from Eurovision veteranS Omar Naber and Maja Keuc (as Amaya) to last year's fan favorite Raiven. The final takes place on Februaty 24, 2017. ManuElla has won the Slovenian final with Red and blue . She beat Raiven with  Črno bel (Black and white) in the superfinal so it was all about colors tonight.They were chosen for the superfinal by a jury and then people televoted about these two. It was really really close: 3.865 votes for ManuElla and 3.738 for Raiven! Or 50,8% vs 49,2%! Happy little country tune over something more exciting. But all in all sadly a very medicore selection of songs, and the winner respects that perfectly.  Check out the other songs after the jump

Slovenian EMA 2016 final takes place tonight. Ten songs in the competition. First a jury will pick up two of them for the superfinal, then televoters will choose the one.
