Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

This summer Blogilkar is exploring again new territories in form of holidays  and that gives also a perfect excuse to explore the music scene as well.  After Malta, Czech Republic and Cuba it's Poland's time!

What a let down for the evening...... with two very different but surely valid options (Edyta was stunning and Margaret, well we have heard worse vocals in Eurovision, and they have even won!) here comes totally annoying and uninteresting Michal Szpak and his Color of your life. Poland is back with a national final and already Margaret is among the favorites to win in Stockholm - before she has even won in Poland! Also 1994 runner up Edyta Górniak is back and if you ask fans its between these two. But also Natalia isn't bad. And it seems Margaret isn't exactly great with live vocals. Something Edyta has no problem with. Ths is going to be interesting! Ridiculously also Napoli is here after they failed to win in Belarus. Pathetic. Poland has revelaed today the names for the final and yes, all the rumored ones are in from Margaret to Edyta to Michal. The surprise is Napoli that is bordering ridiculous. They already came 2nd in the Belarusian final this year with the same song. Are there no rules? Taraka is an Ukrainian-Polish band that made headlines over the world with Give Ukraine a helping hand . Poland has closed its submission period and has received  almost 70 goodies, it is rumored. And guess what? Among the lat minute submission are the ones by Margaret and Edyta Gorniak with Gratefu l! Other names include Michal Szpak (X Factor runner up) with Color of your life , Kasia Nova with Love is music , Szymon Wydra (Pop Idol finalist), Monika Urlik (from The Voice) and Hubert Centkowski. The Polish final Krajowe Eliminacje 2016 will be in Warzaw on March 5, 2016. The finalists will be announced next week.

As expected Poland's absence didn't last but the football year 2012 and next year they are back it seems. There's no confirmation by EBU but apparently TVP has confirmed it themselves yet not telling how the entry will be selected this time. The Polish national final has often been rather good and they have sent some interesting and good songs as well, even if they haven't been so much favored by the voters. Poland has only made it twice to the final since the semifinals were introduced  in 2004 with Love song and in 2008 with For life but they have almost made it to the final in several occasions: 2005 and 2006 11th while in 2009-2010 they finished close 12th and 13th with I don't wanna leave and Legenda . Their 2011 entry Jestem was a fan favorite but dropped to 19th (one may also add the live performance wasn't that good, sadly.) Their best placing remains the debut in 1994 when Edyta Gorniak charmed Europe with To nie ja! and came 2nd...

Edyta Gorniak is having a great success in Poland again with her 6th album My. Teraz-tu features a very summery video and is in Polish but recently she has also released Consequence s that's in English. What a fine vocalist she is and Poland should definately send her off to Eurovision again to make better her second place with   To nie ja ....

It seems Poland is withdrawing from Eurovision 2012 in Baku. They debuted with a bang back in 1994 when Edyta Gòrniak's To nie ja came second. Since then Poland has failed to make the top-10 with the exception of 2003 when Ich Troje's Keine Grenzen scored 7th place. The last seven editions Poland has made the final only once but even then Isis Gee's For life was only 23rd in the final. This blogger thinks Poland should have done a bit better most of the times as their songs have been better than their placements generally... like in 2004 , 2010 and 2011 for example. Well, hopefully they will be back in 2013 again when they don't have to host some footballing event....
