FINLAND: NEW #FINPOP BY UMK ARTISTS ISAAC SENE / ETTA, ILTA, CYAN KICKS AND YOUNGHEARTED

This year's UMK has been a success for most of its artists. BESS scored the biggest hit this year so far with Ram pam pam and her follow up Rakastan ei rakasta is making it big as we speak. Besides that she's featured in Antti Tuisku's hit Grindr mayhem . Isaac Sene released already the follow up Jukka and is now featured in Etta's Rakastellaan. Cyan Kicks and Younghearted have released their follow up singles, too. As has The Rasmus . Meanwhile last year's success Ilta is here again with her latest continuing her success. FINLAND: GUESSING THE #UMK2021 HOPEFULS, vol.4 - VAIN ELÄMÄÄ 1

Vain elämää is a hugely popular semi reality music program where top artists get together for a week and each day is dedicated to one of them. The day's artist sits through lunch and dinner telling about own life and career while the others each perform a cover song of this artist's repertoire. At the moment the season 11 is airing. The season always gives birth to countless streaming hits, restarts careers, cements the up and coming ones and sells out Hartwall Arena for a concert later in the year.  The artists are so already so many, and fit also the other given #umk2021 categories like past Eurovision stars and Emma award winners. Withoiut further a do, here the very unlikely big stars come: Jannika B - Kaksi jotka pelkää Petra - Miljoona syytä Mira Luoti - Plää plää plää Sani - Tulin tänne sua varten Reino Nordin - Antaudun Nikke Ankara - Rikkinäinen prinsessa Juha Tapio - Päiväni ilman sinua Mikael Gabriel - Oli aikoi Erin - Yhtenä sunnuntaina Ellinoora - Nartut Anna Puu -...

FINLAND: UMK 2021 FINALISTS CHOSEN

Yle has revealed today that it received 278 submissions for UMK 2021 and they have now chosen the seven finalists. They will be revealed on January 19, 2021 and the grand fianl will take place on February 20, 2021.  The standard is "higher than ever" and Yle says the artists and authors wanting to take part are better known than ever before as both new and up coming artists submitted entries along with well known and successful artists, among them previous Eurovision entrants, Emma (aka Finnish Grammy) winning artists, some of them most potential Finnish music export hopefuls and hot alternative names loved by the critics. Apparently the variety of music styles will be heard in the chosen seven as well.  Who knows if the 2020 winner Aksel Kankaanranta sent in a song, and got selected for the final...? The winner will receive the new challenge cup where all the UMK winner's names will be featured from now on designed by Minna Viitalähde.

FINLAND: UMK RETURNS IN 2021 - NO FREE EUROVISION TICKET FOR AKSEL

Finland joins Sweden and Estonia confirming they will have a new national final in 2021 and this year's winner has no direct access to Eurovision 2021. Where as Estonia offers Uku Suviste a spot in the semi-final line up Finland joins Sweden stating "Aksel can always send in a song and professional jury will pick up the finalists".  Ops! A bit harsh... The process will be in 2021 like it was in 2020. The song submission opens on September 1, 2020 and a certain number of songs will be chosen for the final. The 2020 season was both viewing and rating success and obviously Yle wishes to continue the good trend creating a state-of-the-art music show.  This year's big favorite and runner up in the end, Erika, does not rule out a possible return, nor does her record company Mökkitie Records. "We keep on eye on UMK and we are very Eurovision friendly. We couldn't have had a better kick off for Erika's new career path" they say. A few days ago A...
