Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

  Oh I still remember well when I first saw Taylor Dayne's Tell it to my heart music. I was hypnotized. She came across like Nina Hagen's and Madonna's lovechild and I was in love. I followed her through the next releases but lost interest when her looks and songs became mainstream AOR stuff... Shame. That esaggerated mouth deserved an everending string of fierce hit songs.

  Nina Hagen may not be at first glance a very fitting addition to my collection of music I like but to be honest I was a huge fan in the 80's, and finally saw her live a few years ago but to a huge disappointed as she was singing some random Jesus loves you music and the only old song was Atomic Flash deluxe .... Sigh. But in the 80's she was  on drugs, wild and crazy Queen of Punk and I loved her like no other.... Nonsexmonkrock is a fabulous album! Check out also

Germany has published the names of the seven entablished artists taking part in the national selection. One more act will be added to the line up from the unknown artists who entered to take part (1.213 of them did actually). February 19 ten of them will fight for the place in the final line up in Clubkonzert to join these guys and it's worth remembering last year Elaiza beat all the big names in the final and went to Copenhagen. It might be my impression but this year's big aren't as big as last year's.... I never heard any of them, but then I can't call myself an expert in German music of today. I'm a bit stuck on Nena and Nina Hagen period really. And just like last year, they will all perform two songs again. One of the songs that has made the biggest first impression ever for me is Taylor Dayne's Tell it to my heart that was like a match made made in heaven with Nina Hagen and Madonna back in 1987. Since then she has pretty much disappeared from the worldwide attention but she's back with Floor on fire that sounds mighty great. Big Eurovision fan Michael von der Heide finally made his dream come true when he sung for Switzerland in 2010. Il pleur de l'or was a good song, nicely presented but somehow it scored only 2 points in the second semifinal. From Georgia of all places. That didn't stop him. Soon after he was touring with Sina and the Zurich symphonic orchestra and in 2010-2011 performing in Basel in Meine faire Dame, giving his face to AIDS campaign and this spring he has been touring with his Lido tour. And a new album is in the making, it's his 9th. Maybe he will come back sometime soon? Did you know he recorded a single with Nina Hagen in 2002?

Nina Hagen's new album Personal Jesus has made it to already #16 in the German album charts, making it her best placing since Unbehagen in 1979! Meaning it features better than her hit scoring Angstlos , In ecstase and others! You can prelisten this Jesus filled affair here . I prefer Nina like this or this . Or this . But it was great to see her live in Helsinki this summer even if there was a bit too much Jesus and too little Cosma Shiva! And with Jesus or without, Nina should do Eurovision!

Nina Hagen did her thing in Kaisafest in Helsinki last night. The pouring rain stopped before she took the stage in a huge tent and it all started off pretty nicely with her version of Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus and soon came also Atomic Flash deluxe and The Doors cover Riders in the storm .... then it was a very long wait for something that didn't have Jesus, God, Lord or similar in the text and that wasn't weird Jesus country folk music.   My way got people wild in the end and we were expecting an encore part with some goodies but no. More acoustic Jesus country folk! People had been already shouting "No more Jesus" while waiting for the encore and when some more Jesus followed most people started heading another way and Nina's musical director kindly whispered her ear it's enough and took her off stage and it was over. Hallelujah I said! Oh jeez...  I was happy to see Nina finally but ... Atomic flash deluxe and My way didn't made up for fe...

Today's the day! Nina Hagen finally live in my life! Hip hip hurrah die Ufos sind da! She seems to have gone a bit godly and covering Nick Drake ltely and her new album is called Personal Jesus . I have no idea what to expect from the concert but if she does Frühling in Pari s I'll be overjoyed! Croissaint pour moi! La la laa! Grace Jones returned to the charts in 2008 with Corporate cannibal and Hurricane . Let's see how the concert turns out!

In 1983-1984 Nina Hagen went disco with hits like New York, New York , Zarah , Fruhling in Paris and I love Paul . And of course fantastic World now . Grace Jones also became Slave to the rhythm

Nina Hagen released two albums with her band in 1978 and 1979 with songs like TV-Glotzer , Fisch in Wasser , Auf'm Bahnhof Zoo , African reggae and Fall in love mit mir . Grace Jones instead continued with some covers, like Private life and Breakdown .

After Whitney Houston I'm going to see Nina Hagen and Grace Jones. Did someone mention I'm very versatile? Nina Hagen started already 36 years ago with schlager Du hast den Farbfilm vergessen but soon became the queen of punk worldwide. But she's also trained operasinger as you can hear in Total eclipse and generally just lovely & mad like in Blumen fur die Damen or Seeman . Grace Jones started in 1976 with I need a man and scored a megahit with La vie en rose the year after. A few years later Pull up to the bumper and I have seen that face before were megahits. And here's null problema with Nina!
