ESC 2017 REVIEW - GERMANY (35): LEVINA - PERFECT LIFE

Pictured national flower of Germany, conrnflower After two last places in a row Germany decided to change their selection show. Auditions and 2.493 submissions later we had first 33 artists left (one of them curiously Nathan Trent who was then picked by Austrians to represent them), and finally five. To add some drama one of them Sadi was replaced. The national final had the weird and confusing combo of five singers but only two songs to choose. After various rounds we had only Levina left with both of those songs, and Perfect life was voted in the end. It's written by Lindsay Ray, Lindy Robbins and Dave Bassett.  Isabella Lueen (25) aka Levina is a singer-songwriter and lives between Berlin and London, where she finished her studies at the King's Collage. She labels herself as soulful pop singer and enjoys musicals as well as working with DJs. Her debut album will be released just before Eurovision in Kyiv. I wouldn't be surprised if Germany scored third las...

ESC 2016 FINLAND: RAFAELA TRUDA Vs. ARIANA GRANDE

Here we go: This season's first plagiation case: YLE published yesterday the #UMK16 entrants and soon enough on internet the comments started flying on Rafaela Truda's Rise up . It is said to be a copy of Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea's Problem . Is it a problem? Listen and judge yourself below.... I can't even.... Rafaela comments: I do understand my song may sound a bit like Grande's song as both use saxophone. However the melody is completely different and my song is more Eurovision like. We (co-writers Olli-Matti Kalliosaari and Kalle Mäkipelto) tried to make it more Balcan sounding with saxophone. While doing the demo we did notice the similarities but we liked it so much we left it like it is. We are not stealing it, we tried different things. Last year Måns Zelmerlöw won Eurovision with a song that sounds like David Guettai! it's a question of inspiration, not stealing!"

ESC 2015: MEET MÅNS ZELMERLÖW (SWEDEN)

Sweden seems to be the number one song to beat this year, if you believe the betting odds. What a surprise. The entry has also caused most headlines by being not only a bit too much inspired by this , but also the staging backgdrop has been heavily inspired by this , so much that they have agreed to change it (read: make him fatter and put some cloathes on. The figure, not Måns that is) and SVT pulled the video off to save them from some copyright war. This said Heroes sounds like a radiohit, but is it an Eurovision winner in the end? Maybe not....

ESC 2012: FRANCE Vs UKRAINE

Two exotic ladies for two countries that are willing to well. Anggun from Indonesia for France and Gaitana, a half Congolese for Ukraine. Both have high hopes but while France's high hopes in the recent years have crashed and burned come the final night despite making interesting artistic choices that usually would have deserved more, while Ukraine's efforts have sailed to the final and have been on top year after year. Will this year change this or will they both be on top, or neither, or just one of them? France is promising a great show on stage and we know we will get one from Ukraine, the master of the game of turning a mediocre song into a real show stopper with its staging and tricking people to vote for it... 2-1 for France. France - Anggun - Echo (You and I)  *** Anggun has the fame already and a lot of international experience and success. The song tries to capture what's in the hit lists at the moment with its whistling but not quite capturing it....
