Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Fernando Daniel is known to Eurovision fans from this year's Portuguese national selection. His new one for this summer is Espera , a dramatic pop ballad. Diogo Piçarra came to spot light in Pop Idol 2012 and has since released two #1 albums and a string of hits.  Já Não Falamos is one of the latest ones. His got the talent and tats to prove it. He could be a wise card to play in Eurovision to keep Portugal's golden moment shining for another year.... If it isn't clear he has been this blogger's Portuguese favorites already some years... A.M.A . is another name to consider for the home ground Eurovision. They've been delivering hit after hit recently and Faltou-nos um beijo is one of them.  JameSi is a new artist and Saudade tua his debut single. Very, very promising indeed! Another one for Eurovision 2018 selection perhaps?

Portugal returns to Eurovision after a year when they were supposed to study the matter and bring Festival da canção to the 2000's (2010's would be pushing it a bit too far..) but instead we got lovely mostly acoustic Portuguese songs that have absolutely nothing to do with Eurovision and no effort whatsoever to try to fit the formula. And I love it! That's how it should be in every country! t first glance it may look the jury and the televoters did a lot of disagreement in the semifinals but a closer look underlines the fact they pretty much agreed after all. With some exceptions though. In the first semi the jury pushed Deolinda though when televoters only placed her second to last. In the second one the televoters made Pedro to qualify as their favorite number one when the jury only had him second to last as well...  For the final the jurors are out but next to the televote there are the regional juries....  Salvador Sobral who has hopefully recovered from his ...

Portugal makes a welcome return to Eurovision after a year of soul searching and revamping the Festival da Canção. The expectations are high it would be finally if not in the 2010's at least in the 2000's...  Anyways, 16 invited composers have all maide their winning package, four our of eight semifinalists will advance to the final after a televote-jury vote. In the final there will be regional juries and televote. Márcia - Agora (jury 5+televote 3=8) Golden Slumbers - Para perto (6+5=11) Fernando Daniel - Poema a dois (7+10=17) Deolinda Kimzimba - O que eu vi nos meus sonhos (8+4=12) Rui Drumond - O teu melhor (6+3=9) Lisa Garden - Without you (4+7=11) Salvador Sobral - Amar pelos dois (12+8=20) Viva la Diva - Nova gloria (10+12=22)

Portugal returns to Eurovision song contest after one year's absense and soul searching and it seems they are aiming high. There will be two semifinals, they have dropped the language rule (sigh...) but as usual the songs have been ordered from country's top composers. Now it's time to reveal some of the artist, or half of them. And the first semifinal alone includes three former The Voice of Portugal winners! Fernando Daniel is the latest one, Rui Drumond won three years ago and Deolinda Kinzimba two years ago. COuld it be Portugal finally wins after 53 years and 49 entries?  Márcia - Agora ( song by Márcia) Golden Slumbers - Para perto ( song by Samuel Úria) Fernando Daniel - Poema a dois ( song by Nuno Feist) Deolinda Kinzimba - O que vi nos meus sonhos ( song by Rita Redshoes) Rui Drumond - O teu melhor ( song by Héber Marques) Lisa Garden - Without you ( song by Pedro Saraiva) Salvador Sobral - Amar pelos dois ( song by Luísa Sobral) Viv...
