EUROVISION - BEST OF THE DECADE: RUSSIA

Let's continue the series and kill some time having a look at the last decade and see who were the Top-10 best scoring countries in the Eurovision song contest in the past ten years. The ways to calculate are many and here I have used the simple average placement method (and it's not all so serious). Next up is Russia at n.o 3. Two silvers and two bronzes with two top-10 finishes is Russia's result in the 2010's. With one withdrawel and one NQ, both thanks to Julia Samoylova, the Crimea crisis and dirty political game. A lot of booing for Russia over the years and one man to stop it: Sergey Lazarev. Twice. And then we had the grannies, too..... and way too much Kirkorov! 2011 Alexey Vorobjov - Get you - 16th ** 2012 Buranovskiye Babushki - Party for everybody - 2nd **** 2013 Dina Garipova - What if - 5th *** 2014 Tolmachevy Sisters - Shine - 7th  *** 2015 Poli Gagarina - A million voices - 2nd **** 2016 Sergey Lazarev - You are the only one ...

EUROVISION ARTISTS ALL OVER RU.TV AWARDS 2016 - LAZAREV THE BEST MALE ARTIST

As every year the lists of nominees are filled with Eurovision stars only proving that Russia indeed does send their biggest guns to Eurovision. Serebro was once again nominated for the best group, Dima Bilan for the best song ( Не молчи ), as was Svetlana Loboda ( К чёрту любовь ), Polina Gagarina for the best video ( Я не буду ), with Alexey Vorobyov ( Сумасшедшая ), Sergey Lazarev ( Это все она ) and Dan Balan ( Плачь ). Dima Bilan and Sergey Lazarev once again battled against each other in the best male singer category and Sergey won the second year in a row. Eye on Egor Kreed who could be the next one with Eurovision glory.... Ani Lorak - these days a persona non grata at home in Ukraine - was nominated for the best female artist again with Polina Gagarina, but  Ёлка won this time around. Nyusha , also a very possible future Eurovision name was nomintaed for the best dance video, as was Egor Kreed . Emin was nominated for the best acting role in a movie....

ALEXEY VOROBYOV FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE IN LOS ANGELES

Alexey Vorovyov aka Alex Sparrow, the Russian entrant in Eurovision 2011 was seriously hurt in a car crash in Los Angeles a few days ago. He has recorded numerous fractures and traumatic brain injury. He has now been moved from intense care to neurological department, the Russian media reports suggesting the news about his death in some media are false.  He had a brain hemorrhage due to severe brain injury. He was hit a large portion of the right lobe of the brain causing partial paralysis of the left side of his body. He can't eat and speak nor move his left hand. Alex has regained consciousness, but he does not remember anything that happened to him . Doctors do not give any guarantee that he will be able to fully recover and return to the profession. But there is hope as he is a young and very healthy in general.  His family has asked the media to give them space and peace. More information is given at due time. Alex was in Los Angeles recording new material and taki...

Alex Sparrow's on one

Where did Alexey Vorobyov disappear after Eurovision where he finished 16th, Russia's worst since 1995 with RedOne penned Get you ? Los Angeles, that's where he went and into the studio with the same RedOne. He will start conquering America as Alex Sparrow in 2012 and here comes a little teaser, a cover of DJ Khaled ft Drake, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne's  I'm on one . The vid's made for fun in one day by Alex himself using one camera only. Enjoy!

ESC 2011: Problems, protests, surprises and scandals

Germany is well know for it's punctuality and that things work. Eurovision 2011 apparently has proved that image wrong. And the worst happened last night when several countries were left without their commentators when the sound faded. Like Finland. We had two commentators, Asko Murtomäki, an Eurovision expert and newcomer Tarja Närhi (who was absolutely fabulous!!!), they got tired of the problems and the German saying just "We'll fix it" and 5 minutes before the start took their mobile phone and the whole show was commented by phone. It ment that most of the time only Tarja was speaking and they couldn't use their written script but had to improvise mostly - but they did a great job! Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, Norway, Spain, Croatia and Serbia were amongst the countries that were left without commentators according Iltalehti.  And that brings us to protests. Norway was one of the biggest favourites to win the contest and instead didn't make it past the semif...

ESC 2011 DusselDay 5: Russia, Switzerland and Georgia

Alexey from Sweden, sorry Russia is next on stage with his all Swedish team and LED lit shoes fighting his war against Sweden and Eric. I still don't like the song and the presentation isn't that special me thinks. The dancing seems rather non-spontaneous. Well, it never is in such a choreographed number but the trick is to make it look like one. This feels very forced to me. Also vocally but then we know all that matters is the big night. He is still dressed in black leather jacket and white t's James Dean style while the dancers are in black. Anyways, I'm wishing for a little miracle and Russia missing the final but there's no such hope in the world I guess. Anna from Switzerland   is still singing her little tune in her red dress and nothing seems to have changed; it all looks still colorful and glittery in the background eating Anna and her musicians - but then it looks propably fine on TV. I still doubt this will attract enough votes to squeeze into the final....

ESC 2011 DusselDay 1: Russia

Like the LED walls were not enough they have LED jackets and LED shoes and own LED walls. Oh well. But then, the golden shoes are so 80's but what the Herreys will say? Alexey shows Eric he can sing live and dance a bit, too, but it doesn't help when your song is so weak. The new Russian intro has nothing to do with the song and feels clued into it just to give it a hint of originality and Russian thing but as I said it feels useless and pointless. In overall the most boring act until now today and absolutely does not deserve a place in the final but this is Russia, so...  Watch here . At least for the rehearsal Alexey and his three male backing dancers are sporting a 50's James Dean look. Two backing singers have been apparently hidden off stage.Oh, and he does Sakis! As a jumper! The AKOE video is here . And the official .

Russia's gonna Get you?

It won't get me for sure. Rather dull and boring song I must say. Nothing special in any way. Alexey Vorobyov is no Dima - Bilan or Koldun whatever you prefer, nor Sergey Lazarev. A perfect match for a song that lacks all personality and is totally uninteresting.... But here it is.

Is Alexey gonna get you? Listen here

The Russian song has apparently leaked today. Alexey Vorobyov will sing Swedish-Moroccan RedOne's Get you in Dusseldorf. I don't know if it's me but even this one sounds like a disappointment. 2011 sucks.

Alexey Vorobyov for Russia with Get you

Alexey Vorobyov (23) aka Alex Sparrow has been internally selected for Russia as I reported a couple of days ago He has participated in the national selection already twice; in 2008 with New Russian kalinka (5th) and in 2009 with Angelom biht (4th). He will release his debut album this week despite the fact he has already released 13 singles since 2006.His latest single is Bam bam . In Eurovision he will sing Red One's Get you. The song will be presented on March 12, 2011.
