EUROVISION 2018 DAY 3: FIRST REHEARSAL FOR MOLDOVA, THE NETHERLANDS, AUSTRALIA

Moldova - DoReDos - My lucky day The three DoReDos are doubled by three dancers in a performance we already know and have reworked it greatly into a box. Funny and clever, and after last year's Moldovan surprise finish we might be better prepaired for this one finishing on the left side of the scoreboard after all. Songwise it doesn't deserve it but as a performance yes. The press center was apparently really captured by this one as will be the televoters forgetting about the song.... "Playful" , #Brilliant", "Incredibly entertaining", "Hilarious", "Cheeky", "Creative" The Netherlands - Waylon - Outlaw in 'em Waylon is full of rock credibilty in his leopard jacket on top of his podium and has musicians that turn into dancers by his side as an unexpected surprise. He delivers vocally as one can only expect from someone who just today let the world know there's a new outlaw coming to the world and...

EUROVISION 2018 REVIEW: AZERBAIJAN, AUSTRALIA, FINLAND, UNITED KINGDOM

Azerbaijan - Aisel - X my heart Aysel Mammadova (28) aka Aisel is jazz and blues singer,  pianist and songwriter but for this Eurovision adventure she goes all pop. There are so many reasons I shouldn't like this one but this has grown to be my guilty pleasure this year aka Slavko vol.2. These lyrics are priceless. She's got the honor to open the contest this year and set the tune so let's hope she delivers vocally and being Azerbaijan they must have come up with some staging gimmick. And qualify. I may have liked the original version better though. Can't help it but 9/10 (blush) Australia - Jessica Mauboy - We got love Jessica (28) is Australian Idol runner up 2006, and the hint of things to come for Australia in Eurovision as she starred in the interval act in the 2014 contest and the rest is history, Australia has taken part in the contest ever since.  She may have not quite shined vocally in Copenhagen but apparently she's got it. The song...

AUSTRALIA: CELEBRATE DIVERSITY - MIXED ORIGINS FOR THE ARTISTS

Australia is now taking part for the fourth time in Eurovision song contest and has been faitful for its idea of selecting artists of mixed origins, if that has been intentional - I think I read somewhere it is or at least was for the first three participations. Either way, Jessica Mauboy continues the trend. Guy Sebastian was born in Malaysia and moved to Australia with his family when he was six. His father has Malaysian Indian and Tamil blood  with a hint of Ceylonese and Portuguese. His mother is English-Portuguese and was raised in India. He later became the very first Australian Idol in 2003. Dami Im is pure South Korean. She moved to Australia when she was nine and represents the large Korean population in the country. She won X Factor Australia in 2013. Yorta Yorta art Isaiah Firebrace is a real Australian aboriginal. His father is Yorta Yorta and his mother is Gunditjmara. He won X Factor Australia 2016 and went on to Eurovision within months. Fight...

AUSTRALIA: JESSICA MAUBOY RETURNS TO EUROVISION STAGE

Jessica Mauboy has been announced as the Australian entrant in 2018 Lisbon Eurovision. Jessica retuns to Eurovision stage having been "the Aussie entry zero" aka the interval act in Copenhagen 2014, when Australia was invited to provide the interval act for the semifinal two, and the next year they entered the contest scoring 5th, 2nd and 9th place since. Now it's Jessica's turn to try and keep Australia's top-10 score intact. Jessica (28) rose to fame nine years ago in Australian Idol being the runner up. She has released three studio albums so far and over 30 singles, nine of them Top-10 hits. She's also actress and has released also three soundtrack albums. This blogger had a pleasure to meet and have a little chat with Miss Mauboy in Copenhagen and she was very down to earth and nice!

AUSTRALIA: WILL X FACTOR WINNER ISAIAH FIREBRACE CONTINUE TO KYIV AND EUROVISION?

Just 17-year.old Isaiah Firebrace won the latest X Factor Australia mentored by Adam Lambert and in the post-victory interviews comes out as a huge Eurovision fan and telling his dream is to do it. “When Jess (Mauboy) performed, I thought ‘Oh my God, Australian can do it, we’re allowed to be there now’,” he said. “And then seeing what Guy and Dami did was incredible. It would definitely be something I would love to do, that would be the dream. And what if I won?” He cites Mauboy as his greatest role model because of what she has achieved as an indigenous artist and performing Wake Me Up with her during the finale was the highlight of his nascent music career. “I’ve always looked up to her, she’s come so far and I was inspired by someone who is indigenous doing such great things,” he said. “I really want to be a role model, not just to young indigenous people but the non-indigenous community, to encourage young people to never give up on their dreams. I am really passionate abou...

A LITTLE BIT OF AUSTRALIA IN EUROVISION 2014: JESSICA MAUBOY

Jessica Mauboy was the star of the Australian provided interval act in the second semifinal of Eurovision 2014. I had a pleasure to meet her backstage in the Eurovision Village where she was performing just before Valentina Monetta on Sunday May 4, 2014. Watch her semi final performance again here .

#ESC 2014 AUSTRALIA: JESSICA MAUBOY TO SING NEVER BE THE SAME

As we know Australians are crazy for Eurovision. Some Aussies have even song in Eurovision for other countries, from Gina G to Johnny Logan and Olivia Newton-John . In mid 1990's the Australian TV apparently even offered to host the show in Sydney opera house if only they could take part in it. Or then maybe they didn't but the rumor was there. It's an intriguing idea, isn't it? Anyways, Australian SBS has broadcasted the Eurovision nearly 40 years now and it every year gathers a few million Aussies to watch it downunder. After a long wait finally in 2014 Australia will be present in the Eurovision stage officially. They will provide us the interval act in the second semifinal on May 8, 2014. The lucky chosen one is Jessica Mauboy who will sing her hit Never be the same and another brand new, especially for Eurovision written song.  She is "super excited" and declared a fan of the contest since she was 11 years old.
