ESC 2013: TURKEY MAKES IT SCIENCE. SORT OF.

Endless are the ways to select the Eurovision entry. November 2, 2012 a special advisory board will meet with the TRT committee to discuss the next Turkish entry. All this after TRT's general director İbrahim Şahin earlier this year said Turkey is done with Eurovision and will be in Baku 2012 only because it's Baku. He also criticized the televoting system maybe forgetting Turkey is one country that has benefited from it the most perhaps! All this is now past them and Turkey will indeed be in Malmö 2013.  The advisory board includes several previous Turkish represents along with other musicians, TV and radio personalities. I wonder what the outcome will be? I hope Turkey would bring back the real flavor of their music and hopefully also the language! Will they all agree it's time for Tarkan finally? :-) Can Bonomo (2012), Ferhan Akgül (maNga 2010), Harun Tekin (Mor Ve Ötesi 2008), Sertab Erener (2003), Kayahan Acar and Demet Sağır...

Belgrade - Day 3: Turkey, Lithuania, Albania

Three no thrills performances to go with the more or less spectacular Sweden and Ukraine: 3. TURKEY A very simple rock band performance but a very good one. The puppets seen on their video make the back ground screens while it's very dark for the rest, including their cloathes. Vocally convincing. 5. LITHUANIA Still painful to listen beyond belief. Is he serious? Is his team serious? Still alone on stage. 6. ALBANIA Olta is sweet and wonderful, sings flawlessly and has Laura Pausini-like star quality and the song's good. Sounds even better after Lithuanian nightmare. Deserves to qualify for the final for sure!

On the spotlight: Turkey

Turkey used to struggle in the Eurovision but the televoting changed it all and the first victory came in 2003. They have also been in Top-4 three times: 1997, 2004 and again last year in Helsinki. Turkey is one of the few countries that tend to send songs with a real flavour like Eurovision should be but this year the song is not very Turkish but it is in Turkish. And once in final they can again relay on their votes from Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland to place well. But then, they do deserve it. Again. This year Turkey trusts in rock and being the only one besides Finland (and in a different semi) they should make it to the final. Mor ve Ötesi (Purple and beyond) was founded in 1995 and has since released 5 albums, 18 singles and 12 videos. Their albums have sold over 350.000 copies so far. The year 2006 has been so far the most successful for the band. They won both the Best Rock Album and the Best Album of the year awards for Dünya Yalan Söylüyor and also t...
