Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Ada Reina has won the Italian selection for OGAE Video contest 2014 . This year's selection was filled with emerging young, new talents on purpose so most of them were unknown to this blogger. One jumped as a megafavorite though since the first viewing, Ada Reina and and I'm very pleased she won with Lei balla (She dances). Ada (25) has apparently Latin American roots and she came to spotlight only two years ago but have since then achieved already quite a lot. Songs like Vieni , Bevi and Sono io have led to Lei balla , and she's due to release her debut album shortly after several collaborations and EPs, and various important performances like the legendary MuccAssassina and GayVillage 's Opening party in Rome.  She seems to be very promising, and different, act. And judging the genre and looks she would fit into Eurovision like a glove in a year or two after she gains a bit more experience and a few more cross over hits under her belt - if she chooses to e...

Giorgia again. The winner of OGAE Video 2012 contest with È l'amore che conta (but she did represent Italy in Video contest the year before, too, and in OGAE Song contest already in 2003 as well) returns to OGAE contests with Quando una stella muore the first single off her latest album Senza paura (followed by I will pray (Pregherò) in duet with Alicia Keys, Non mi ami and Io fra tanti so far). She has collected also a triplet of Sanremo trophies: winner in 1995 with Come saprei , third in 1996 with Strano il mio destino and second in 2001 with Di sole e d'azzurro . This blogger is only waiting, whishing and hoping she would do Eurovision some time soon! Some other favorite songs by this Roman singer include E poi , Marzo , Gocce di memoria and Il mio giorno migliore .She may be tiny as a person but her voice is huge. If she was American she would give a run of their vocal cords to likes of certain Célines, Cristinas and Beyonces, not to mention late Whitney. S...

All isn't what it seems but Giorgia's success with her latest album has been visibly stunning in Italy. The first single Il mio giorno migliore was a bit summer hit and in the end sold over 30.000 copies and certified platinum. The follow up È l'amore che conta was on the radios late summer and early fall and sold over 15.000 copies and earned her a gold disc. Then came the duet Inevitable with Eros Ramazzotti was the soundtrack of the wintertime, selling also over 15.000 and another gold disc. Fourth single Dove sei is on the market now, while the album Dietro le apparenze went platinum for Christmas with over 60.000 copies sold, and the 13th most sold album in Italy in 2011. And then yeat another single and video, Tu mi porti su ... On top of that a succesful tour....and now ladies and gentlemen, Giorgia will return to the OGAE Video contest with È l'amore che conta after being third in the 2011 edition with Il mio giorno migliore . Can she better it?

Italy did once again well in a contest organized by Eurovision fans, this time the video contest. After the 2nd place in the real Eurovision song contest and third place in Second Chance here's another third place with fabulous Giorgia. This woman is fabulously fantastic! As even if È l'amore che conta wasn't great enough here she delivers the goods in English, Hostage . Why don't Italians just send her off to Baku for once and all? After all she deserves it as she should have been there 1995.... As a consolation her previous single Il mio giorno migliore is the Italian entry in the OGAE Video Contest.
