SWEDEN: IT'S ROBIN BENGTSSON FOR EUROVISION 2017

This is one very happy blogger; after the international jury votes my only three songs I liked were the top-3, and even after the televotes they were 1st, 2nd and 4th. Whatever happened to the fan wanks Wiktoria, Ace and Lisa (and Loreen)... I can only giggle. Feeling any wet slaps in face euroboys? Anyways, like I wrote before Robin, Nano and Mariette had the best song+staging combo, and I'm also pleased for Jon Henrik's third place. I'd love to have liked him more but the song left me a bit numb, even if Sami culture would have made a nice addition to Eurovision and should return again sooner or later; from Sweden, Norway or Finland... However it seems Melodifestivalen is getting to a turning point. All final songs were within 6,2-11,9% of the televotes so there was no real favorite for the great public. The highest scoring for them was Nano followed very closely by Wiktoria and Robin. As for the international juries Robin was a clear winner, followed by Nano, Mari...

SWEDEN: MELODIFESTIVALEN FINAL TONIGHT

Sweden's Melodifestivalen 2017 comes to an end tonight, thankfully without that overrated crap Loreen proposed in the line up. I have said this before but it's yes, it's a great show but the songs? Sigh. Most of them are mediocre pop tunes I have no wish to listen to when this is over. My wet dream is Owe will win in the end just to piss off the Euroboys ;-p The f-word is still flying around thanks to Lisa while Robin apparently has changed it getting ready for Kyiv. His is one of those where the show and song meet each other and are in balance. Same goes for Mariette. The most original and real song is maybe Nano's. Wiktoria is as overrated as she was last year. So in short my Top-3 is Nano, Robin and Mariette. Anyone else will have no place in my Top-20, or maybe eben Top-30....  And yes, I'd love to like Jon Henrik but the song isn't good enough this time.  Ace Wilder - Wild Child Boris René - Her Kiss Lisa Ajax with - I Don’t Give A Robin Bengtss...

SWEDEN: MELODIFESTIVALEN SEMIFINAL ONE

Sweden kicks of its Melodifestivalen tonight, the most overrated and hyped about national selection in the universe. Sure it's great entertainment and show, but what about the music? Oh well... After hearing the one minute snippets from semifinal this is more true than ever before. It's more boring than any other selection I have heard this year from any country. Period. Out of seven songs I only got minimally interested in that one of Nano. The only one I have never ever heard of. Save the best for last indeed. He should win this hands down and become this year's phenomenon and as I have no high hopes for any other act in coming weeks even win the whole damn thing. As usual people will vote two songs straight to the final, two to the second chance round and for the other three it's game over and fight for the place in the charts..... Watch here from 21 CET Semifinal 1: 4 February, Göteborg Boris René – Her kiss -> Andra chansen Adrijana – Amare = 6...

SWEDEN: MELODIFESTIVALEN 2017 RUMORS - IS TOMMY KÖRBERG DEAD BY APRIL?

In three weeks we will know the participating artists for the 2017 Melodifestivalen and the rumour mill is going wild in Sweden as usual. While names like Ace Wilder, Wiktoria, Mariette, Lisa Ajax, Robin Bengtsson, Boris René and Elisa Lindström are rumored to be back along with newcomers The Fooo Conspiracy, Ida LaFontaine, Axel Schylström, John Lundvik and Alice Svensson the most curious rumour is about Tommy Körberg teaming up with Dead by April ! Now that sounds interesting.... However, the only sure name in the line up remains Les Gordons , thnk to Svensktoppen Nästa.  Apparently Christer Björkman wants both Wiktoria and Mariette in but they both seem to be missing the right song still. He also wanted The Fooo Conspiracy already in for 2016 but they said Nej tack and tried to break through in the US instead. Now they are available...  Tommy and DbA have indeed recorded a song but Tommy hasn't yet agreed to present it in Melodifestivalen but Christer wants i...

ESC 2016 SWEDEN: MELODIFESTIVALEN FINAL TONIGHT

The reigning Eurovision nation and this year's host Sweden will have its final tonight. The most overrated and most fan wanked event on planet. This blogger has been thinking already for years it's just getting worse year by year - gret show but songs that I don't care to hear ever again once this holabaloo is over - and this year is no exception. The semis were filled with songs that only made you think why?! but then it's only one song that you need. Sweden may not have the winner in this lot this year, no matter how much Christer Björkman wants to equal the Irish wins but there are a few that even this blogger would be glad to have in Globen come May.... Oscar, Frans and Robin that is.  As always there are stagings that leave you mouth open and you don't even notice how medicore the song is (Ace this year, Måns last year) and word gimmicks (Youniverse) and wardrobe gimmicks (Wiktoria) Molly Sanden was the biggest pre-contest favorite but the song is so dul...

ESC 2016 SWEDEN: MELODIFESTIVALEN SEMIFINAL ONE TONIGHT

Host country kicks off its six week Melodifestivalen marathon tonight. Can they pull out another Eurovision winner? Who will take the metro to Globen from home instead of travelling to somewhere else? Fans are having multiple orgasms just because it's Sweden but let's calm down: it's only a national selection like any other.... The first semi is filled with songs in Swedish, the comeback gone wrong by Anna Book, superfavorite Ace Wilder and even two male duos..... And after hearing the rehearsal clips all I can say is Yawn . So much for so little. Really. It will be a great show for sure but.... well, Robin B sounded a bit promising though. Samir & Viktor - Bada nakna (2nd Chance) Pernilla Andersson - Mitt guld 6th Mimi Werner - Ain't no good 5th Albin & Matias - Rik (2nd Chance) Anna Book - Himmel för två Robin Bengtsson - Constellation prize (FINAL) Ace Wilder - Don't worry (FINAL) Anna Book was disqualified once the rehearsal sni...

#ESC 2014 SWEDEN: SANNA NIELSEN - UNDO

Sanna Nielsen, nicknamed the oldest granny in Sweden is still only 29 years old. Over the years she has created a huge fanbase with her six previous attempts to win Melodifestivalen and finally she did it with Undo . I already wanted her to win with Empty room in 2008 when she was the runner up. Sanna is adorable, has a fantastic voice, has charisma and is likable. Aren't we all happy she won finally? Robert: Sanna has a strong song and is an excellent singer that knows how to deliver. After numerous attempts to win the ticket to represent Sweden, you can only be happy that this very sympathetic singer finally succeeded. Of course she will go straight to the final. However my favourite song of this year's Melodifestivalen was not Undo or any other song of the 10 finalists but a song that just failed to reach the final by Martin Stenmarck called När anglarna åar hem With this song, it would have been a real nice come back for Martin to the Eurovision stage after his con...

#ESC 2014 SWEDEN - THE FINAL

Melodifestivalen 2014 is coming to an end as well. Propably the worst what comes to songs since this six week long carival was launched, and even the presenters haven't really been so loved or praised, have they? In the end the final ten is pretty ok - they could have saved us the trouble and pick up these from the beginning as the line up is very predictable and not including really any surprises. Add Shirley Clamp and Martin Stenmarck to the line up and it would have been beyond predictable. Alcazar is and remains of course the main favorite, but will they win finally? We will see. It would be a shame as this is propably their weakest MF entry ever. They do deserve to win, but not with this one. If it was up to me, I'd risk with Ace Wilder or go safe with Sanna Nielsen. But I think Ace would do better in Copenhagen after all.... How cool would be Linus winning...? 1. Anton Ewald – Natural 2. Ellen Benediktson – Songbird 3. Alcazar – Blame It On The Disco 4. Oscar ...

#MELFEST: BUSY DOIN' NOTHIN'

The third Melodifestivalen 2014 semifinal was the first one I saw this season and I have heard and read before proved to be true: uninspired and rather boring, I'm afraid. The presenters... oh well, where is Lena Ph when you need her? Or Petra Mede ? I thought Outtrigger would make it but in the end it was the pretty boy bubble gum pop that had its best before date a long time ago that sailed to the final by Oscar Zia . And surprisingly Ace Wilder with the song Madonna and Avicii would make together if forced to. The bands Outtrigger and State of Drama went to second chance while dr alban and Jessica Folcker finished 5th (also this had it's best before date a long time ago), Shirley Clamp looked like she was suffering the Carola -esque wind machine at least as much as I would with an eye infection and made it only to 6th. In the end maybe she deserved more. At least a new stylist, that woman needs a serious makeover! CajsaStina had a lovely song that sounded a bit l...

#MELODIFESTIVAL 2014 TURNS INTO MEDIOCREFESTIVAL: SEMIFINAL 3

The third Melodifestivalen 2014  semifinal takes places tomorrow and it has alredy been described by some fans the weakest in history. Are also the die hard Mello fans waking up and smelling the coffee? Melodifestivalen has been going downhill for a long time what comes to music, that's what this blogger has been thinking for a long time already. Just a few years ago a clear priority to watch and follow, this year quite frankly I'm yet to see it live even if I have it on my telly.... The other finals that have been colliding with it have just been more interesting.  Listening the snippets of tomorrow's songs I must agree with the criticism and will turn in to watch something else most propably. Indeed it has become something to watch, not to listen. The show's great but the music? Hmmm... Even Shirley Clamp can't save the night. Ace Wilder sounds like Madonna's demo from Hard Candy sessions, dr.alban is a great addition to the line up but clearly not at his...
