Eurovision veterans Marco Mengoni and Emma were awarded as the Best male and Best female singer in Italy when Francesco Gabbani presented the Tim MTV Music awards in Rome's Piazza del Popolo.  Sadly both were absent - Emma in another channel with Amici final and Mengoni still having his holidays and break from the show m´business somewhere in the world, but he promised an international surprise shortly in his video message. Maybe the workaholic is already ready to return? The final match was won by Michele Bravi as the Best Performance beating Francesco Gabbani himself.  Benji & Fede was voted the Best band and the Web star award, Marco Mengoni won also Best fan award and Ermal Meta got the Best new artist award... after 12 years in spotlight.....

If the Italians really sucked in the annual most sold singles  chart they take a sweet revenge in albums, when only Coldplay makes the top10, and only David Bowie and Adele are featured in Top20. Marco Mengoni has three albums in the chart: 14th, 15th and 70th, only one of them released in 2016. Laura Pausini has two albums in Top20, the recently released Christmas album making it to 6th! Il Volo's classic album is at 22 and the previous pop album at 52. Also Vasco Rossi has two albums in Top20.  Top15 includes also Eurovision veterams Riccardo Fogli (with I Pooh) and Gianni Morandi (with Claudio Baglioni).  Emma's latest effort is at 23 and Francesca Michielin makes it to n.o 55 just ahead of Raphael Gualazzi's latest at 57.  Check out more videos from top selling albums after the jump....

The rumour mill is adding names to the list of possible Sanremo artists to be revealed on December 12 ( read more here ). The latest names include Amici winner giant Sergio Sylvestre and the teenage sweethearts Benji & Fede , fresh Italian MTV Music awards winners and enjoying a #2 hit in Italy right now with Amore Wi-fi, following the summer success with Eres mia, and the #1 spot in the album chart with their second album 0+. If they get to Sanremo they will be dangerous in the televoting for sure.... besides attracting the young folks to watch the festival. They were already rumored last year but ended up only dueting with Alessio Bernabei.... If Sanremo, Eurovision could be an opportunity, too... Other names thrown in are Valerio Scanu, Nek, Karima, Deborah Iurato, Irene Grandi, Pierdavide Carone and another teenage favorite, namely girl group Simonetta, Greta, Verdiana and Roberta . Some whisper even a return of Fiorella Mannoia in competition! Meanwhile Jalisse, Gerad...

Two Eurovision veterans have been awarded as Best Male and Best Female artist in Italy: Marco Mengoni and Emma. They won their respective categories, meaning Emma beat this year's entrant Francesca Michielin but her time will come.... The Best Band went to Benji & Fede, who also won the Best New Artist.  The Best Performance went to The Kolors, who caused a scandal when the singer spit on the camera while performing and then didn't show up to collect their award in front of a booing audience. Not their best performance last night was it? Both Benji & Fede and The Kolors also won another minor award this blogger has no clue what they are about....
