Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Another lady in white. But I don't get it. Those shoes, that cape (aka "wings"), that hairdo. Those movements and posing. I don't get it. It feels fake. The backdrop isn't helping as it's just random nonsense. The short late 80's laser show won't save this even if it looks pretty awesome and brings back memories.  I feel no connection to this. She sings well but... meh. I have serious doubts this can make it to the final. 

  According some first comments Iceland isn today's Belgium, failing to deliver. Unlike Belgium Iceland did try to bring the video clip alive on stage with geographic backdrop and really 80's lasers and some futuristic sci-fi nonsense. Svala is also another cape victim - oh hold on, she describes it as wings - (it seems guys have lost their socks this year and ladies love to wear capes so they can throw them away in some point....). Judging the comments also the camera work is not working so Iceland may have a lot of thinking to do before the second rehearsal.... After Moldova this goes by unnoticed.

Svala won her semifinal as well as the first round of the final, and in superfinal scored nearly 63% of the votes with her Paper (in Icelandic  Ég veit það ) she co-wrote with Einar Egilsson, Lester Mendez and Lily Elise. Svala Björgvinsdóttir (40), singer-songwriter and fashion icon is Eurovision royalty, her father Bo Halldórsson represented Iceland in 1995. Svala appeared for the first time on record when she was only 7 years and since then she has been all over the place under various names and in groups and collaborating with other artists home and abroad, mainly in house and dance genres. No surprises in Iceland, pre contest fan favorite Svala beat the other favorite, bordering to a joke entry Is this love? in the superfinal. Neither was realy among my favorites so having a bit mixed feelings there.... Svala and Daði Freyr ruled clearly already in the first round of voting, and the added wildcard Hildur had no share in the game so all very predictable really.
