Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Namely the Italian cinemas are showing tonight 8.30pm an anteprima of his DVD release #prontoacorrereilviaggio that sums up his amazing year 2013: he has sold 9 x platinum,  he won 7 Wind music awards, 40 sold out concerts with over 100.000 people, Eurovision song contest, winner of Sanremo, L'Essenziale became the longest chart topping single in Italy ever... Artist of the year! You can live again the year to remember with him as the film features besides the full concert in Taormina, Sicily also backstage, interviews and a lot more.  It may be an end to a chapter but the story continues... October 28 and 29 he has been performing in the USA for the Billboard's HitWeek... and he keeps on running...

Franco Battiato is ready for the concert in the United States as part of Hitweek , and at the same time has re-released his latest album Open Sesame with two songs translated in English: The will ( Testamento ) and The dust of the pack ( La polvere del branco ) .  The album is out in the USA, Canada and UK. Listen samples here . This is not the first time he sings in English as in 1985 he released album Echoes of Sufi dances . Judging the samples he still has his irresistible accent :-) Tomorrow October 9 he will perform in New York's Highline Ballroom and the day after in Toronto's Phoenix Theater . In November-December the Maestro is back on road in Italy under title Diwan - L'Essenza del reale : November 21 Montecatini, 23 Genova, 25 Napoli, 27 Trieste, December 6 Brindisi, 8 Ancona, 9 Milano, 10 Torino. In November the live album will be also released, recorded in the two concerts together with Antony & The Johnsons and Alice in Florence and Verona ...

Marco Mengoni is still touring unil the end of the year with his Essenziale tour that seems like an everending affair as new dates are added all the time even to towns he has already been with it. But he is also working on his international career as we know the Spanish market invasion is in the making with songs in Spanish sometime in the future. Now it has been confirmed he will be also head lining the Billboards Hit Week 2013 where the famous magazine and trend setter showcases sounds from Italy, including also Franco Battiato and Erica Mou. It will be curious to hear then if he will perform in English or Spanish, or simply in Italian, as Los Angeles is also a center for Latin music market.
