Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Italy has scored an overpowering win in the OGAE Poll 2017. Out of 43 possible 12 points Italy scored 37. Only Hungary, Latvia and Macedonia placed Italy second, Belarus and Russia third and Armenia 4th. Think about that Loreen, Rybak & co. Even if the results have been rather questionable in this pure fan voting Italy is also overpowering favorite in the betting odds and generally everything. If Italy won't win this year, something really weird must happen.... and I'm so pleased to see Finland at 10th place. Similar result is possible come the final night tbh. Less than a week to go and we will know who will win #UMK17 and become the Eurovision song contest entrant for Finland this year. Since the beginning there have been two major fan favorites: Emma and Norma John , two completely different approaches to the contest. One Eurovision by numbers, almost manufactured to perfection to fit the form, one the complete opposite. Curiously, these two were also this bloggers first instant favorites that have been later with further listenings joined by Lauri Yrjölä , Anni Saikku and My First Band . The others don't impress me that much to be honest. I had a little fun with the various polls on the internet, be they newspaper or fan websites or blogs oincluding my own little poll here on the blog (where you can still keep voting). All numbers are percentages. And indeed Emma and Norma John alone take the half of the votes in combined chart.  In the Finnish votes alone My First Band and Gunther & D'Sanz benefit from the huge boos...

... France should have saved Et alors by Shy'm for Eurovision. But that song is representing La France in OGAE Song contest instead, let's see how it will go....  Eurovision Bonsoir Paris fan site has run a lot of questions for French Eurovision fans (nearly 500 of them answered) over the summer and out of the results we can see that they'd prefer a Melodifestivalen type of selection show - or at least a televised national final. Not surprisingly they would also like to pick up the winner themselves - and if not, it should be picked up by an international jury and/or televote.  And when it comes down to the song itself, it should be a quality one, as well as the artist's vocal capacities should be up to it. There should be rhythm, charisma and stage presence and visual effects thrown in with a good measure. If the artists is well known or not isn't that important. I was running a poll here on my blog since mid March until today and we have a surprise winner... or have my Italian readers adopted Albania now that Italy and San Marino are out and even Switzerland is not singing in Italian? A total of 1.739 votes were cast and thank you for all of you! Anyways.... according this poll the qualifiers from the first semi would be: Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Finland, FYR Macedonia, Israel, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and Turkey , leaving Iceland and Switzerland out that have been doing well in many other polls. From the second semifinal they would be: Albania, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Serbia and Ukraine . This one seems to be more in line with the other polls. 01.
