Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

After two years of internal choices in search of "a jackpot" in vain Yle and UMK are returning to an open call. The song submission window is from November 1 to 8, 2019 and Yle is hoping to get a variety of entries from various genres and various artist categories from newcomers to veterans, stars of the moment and has-been in search for a comeback because "each and everyone can have a boost to their career with the participation, not only the winner". They also expect the entries being chosen already the next week.  Their hopes seem to be high despite the fact some are still suspicious and not so trusting this will all go smoothly after their sudden change of plans three years ago when they just threw all the submissions to the rubbish bin and decided to go for Saara Aalto instead.  The fact that they haven't published clear rules and information yet but only "we expect and wish to choose 4-10 entries for the one off final depending on the quality o...

Two of this years #UMK2016 participants have joined forces when Gušani Brothers have remixed Tuuli Okkonen's Don't wake me up. Poom poom , do you like it? Meanwhile the boys have also released a new song called Tell me your name

The third and last #UMK16 semifinal takes place in YLE's studios in Helsinki. Roope Salminen and Krista Siegfrids - fresh from Melodifestivalen - will be hosting the show, and Raakel Liekki is in charge in the Post-Modulation scene. Third and final semifinal of #UMK16 comes from YLE's studios in Helsinki. Three songs will be televoted to the final. And in the final we will have the 50th Finnish Eurovision entry! Here we have mostly totally or almost unknown artists to the great public. Tuuli Okkonen might ring a bell and she's also an UMK returnee. Gušani Brothers or Sami (21), Irfan (19) and Meho (20) are originally from Croatia but live in Finland and Turku since ten years. And they play the part being Turku hipsters and talking the local dialect. Another reason to like them :-) They are still young and they do all their music themselves so this is their first major appearance. They do melodic EMD and have sung in Croatia, Finnish, Albania, Serbian and English but now will stick to English and club oriented EMD. They watch Eurovision every year and their favorites vary from Molitva to Hard rock hallelujah .  Now we only have to see if Finns are ready to party come Saturday night, and will the lead singer Irfan "cougar magnet" eyes work? Poom poom poom..... And yes, this could become an international summer hit - you know one of those annoying ones that play on beaches and clubs and you are sick and tired of but secretly like anyways.... And years alter will bring you back to that summer in your memories....  ...
