#ESC 2014 SLOVENIA: TINKARA KOVAC - ROUND AND ROUND

Tinkara Kovač (35) is a musician, singer, professional flautist, composer and lyricist. She has been around since 1997 and is fourth time lucky with Eurovision (1997, 1999, 2001). She has released already nine albums and studied in Trieste, Italy and is a flute professor indeed. She has also recorded in Italian ( Spezzacuori ). She has collected numerous awards in various festivals over the years and has been performing a lot in neighbouring Croatia, Austria and Italy. She won the EMA 2014 with Spet (Round and round) getting 69,9% of the votes in the superfinal. When critized for the flute in comparison for the last year's winning song she said she was playing flute even before Emmelie De Forest was born. Enough said. Robert: Here is a song I like to hear so for me the right song won although I always keep a weak spot for Omar Naber who also had a nice song in the Ema, the Slovenian preselection, I won't give up .  Round and Round has a nice mix of Slovenian and English, ...

#ESC 2014 SLOVENIA - SONGS ARE HERE

Slovenia, that luckily decided to take part in Eurovision 2014 after a serious hesitation, has premiered its songs for the final tonight. Was it worth it? Yes. An interesting group of songs and none of them going for the cheesy cheap Eurodisco. Good job. The Slovenian final will take place this Saturday. Enjoy! Omar Naber - I won't give up Nermin Puškar & Samuel Lucas - Masquarade Bilbi - To ni blues Nude - It's gonna be OK! Rudi Bucar & Elevators - Tja Tinkara Kovac - Spet (round and round) Muff - Let me be (myself) It will be propably between Tinkara's Eurovision friendly radiopop that is so catchy I was about to sing along just when she decided to change into Slovenian, and Omar Naber's generic pop rock. Nude isn't bad either and this blogger's personal favorite along with Tinkara is Nermin & Samuel.... but round and round we go again, I guess.

#ESC 2014: HERE ARE THE SLOVENIANS

Slovenian TV has today published the list of their finalists picked out of 29 artists and 42 songs submitted. There's no Maja Keuc but several other familiar names. Tinkara took part in 1997 , 1999 and 2001 , Samuel 2009 , Nude various times (1999, 2001, 2005, 2007) and Bilbi co-wrote the funny song Kooninchiwa in 2012. Omar Naber won in 2005 with Stop and has tried his lucky again in 2009 with I still carry on . and in 2011 with Bistvo skrito je očem . Rudi took part in 2009 with Alya and Zadnji dan .  Muff had a number one hit in 2012 with Naj sije v oče and are having a hit right now with  Nov dan . I loved Samuel's entry back then so for now he's a front runner for me. His duet partner Nermin is actually from Bosnia. The Slovenian final EMA 14 will take place on March 8, 2014. Bilbi Tinkara Kovač Omar Naber Rudi Bučar & The Elevators Muff Samuel Lucas feat. Nermin Puškar NUDE (Marco Mosca contributed to this post. Grazie!)

Rumours: Samuel Lucas for Bosnia-Herzegovina?

The rumour of the day is that Slovenian Samuel Lucas will be the Bosnia-Herzegovina's choice for Oslo 2010. I wouldn't mind, he was my favourite in the Slovenian final last year with Vse bi zate dal .      UPDATE: BHRT was quick to deny this rumour.....

Songs that slipped away 3: Vse bi zate dal

Samuel Lucas was the runner up in Slovenia with this power ballad that owes a lot (but not too much) to Unbreak my heart . It was my instant favourite of mine and with this Slovenia would have been very high on my list of the songs of 2009, instead of being amongst the last ones.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2m9_o-AoD9w , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWm5eOCI_hc
