ITALY: WAITING FOR SANREMO - SONOHRA - L'AMORE

This is probably the most boyband-esque Sanremo winner ever. Brothers Diego e Luca won Sanremo Newcomers with L'amore in 2008 and later gained a great success, released albums in Latin America, Brazil and Japan, treid Sanremo again and flopped. I have lost track on them after this song but according Wikipedia they are still active. Who knew? I just know I liked this song back in the day.

MUSICAL FLASHBACK: FAFÁ DE BÉLEM - DOCES PALAVRAS

In the series of duting off some old CDs I had a real nostalgy trip today. I was introduced to the music of Fafá De Bélem , one of the biggest MPB (Musica popular brasilaira) stars through a friend while in Portugal in early 1990's. I fell in love instantly with her voice and melodic songs and Brazilian Portuguese. Relistening the album brings so back memories, and the music is still great providing several sing-along moments of tsong that I didn't remember existed. Human brain is a weird thing.  Sadly I haven't followed her career further than this album and a greatest hits of her earlier music, but I see online she's still around and continued her career with success. Below is the whole album, with my favorites like Doces palavras , Amor de minha vida , Vou brigar com o mundo . Oh, paixão!

Emma Marrone will give a special performance in Casa Azzurri in Refice in Brazil for the joy of the Italian team in the FIFA World Cup. This takes place next Friday, June 20, and RadioItalia will broadcast it live in Italy at 22 CET. Earlier in the afternoon at 16 CET she will be interviewed for the channel.  Italy started its adventured in Brazil well by beating England 2-1. Emma's performance takes place after Italy's next game (and victory) the same day against Costa Rica in Refice. Meanwhile the Azzurri have dropped their Dolce & Gabbana suits and had some relaxing time on the beach while waiting for Emma.... Forza Italia!

Iva Zanicchi vs. Rosario Flores vs. Roberto Carlos

Spanish gypsy singer Rosario Flores has a song called La distancia in her success album Parte de mi that sounded very familiar besides being a fantastic song. Indeed, it turns out to be a cover of one of Iva Zanicchi 's biggest hits Testarda io . But further digging reveals Iva's is a cover of Roberto Carlos original one. Anyways, here's the female double of it from the 1970's and the 2000's and as a bonus the original Portuguese A distância by Roberto from 1972. Rosario's is a perfect song for a lazy Sunday or a hot summer evening...
