Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

    To anticipate my last day of holidays in Malta here's Miss you . I am sure I miss Malta already. Winter Moods have been around for over 30 years and has broken a few records on the way. Like the number of public for a concert by a Maltese band (10.000). And forget various Iras and Chiaras. The biggest international Maltese star is tenor Joseph Calleja. He has a habit of hosting an annual concert in Malta and inviting most everyone that matters to duet with him from Gianluca Bezzina to Federica Falzon. Check his Youtube out for more. But meanwhile enjoy this outstanding rock ballad.... And Joseph. He's got something to say about Eurovision...... 

  Federica topped the maltese charts last summer with Human and is now back with Mama . She's now based in London, but keeps close to Malta as you can see from the beautiful video. This blogger loves the song's atmosphere!

I know nothing about Hazyl but the band's latest Hush now is fabulous pop rock song. Sticks into your mind like a glue... And love Debbie Stivala's voice! Hush now and listen!

WaterWings has been around a few years and are enjoying a top-10 hit on the island this summer with Powerless , that is very catchy earworm indeed. This follows Flesh, bones & spirits , another excellent track, but their breakthrough came with Steal the crown .

Claudia Faniello, one of the finest voices in Malta. Often compared to Ira Losco and known as Fabrizio's little sister but she has proven in the past ten years she's a star of her own right. She may have taken part in the Maltese Eurovision selection with 8 songs between 2006-2012 but not winning  (yet...), She came second with Caravaggio and Pure though. Miles away is a lovely pop tune with a hint of country. Check out also her latest video and self written song   You said . 

Richard Edwards, another one from the talented and musical Micallef family (check out yesterday's Wayne William). He also tried to get to Eurovision as solo artist several times ( Finally , Look at me now , Fall like Rome ) until making it with the family in Firelight . His latest solo is Burning . Check out also fantastic   My mistake . Another very talented singer-songwriter. And maybe, just maybe I will have some news for you when I return.... 

Wayne William, or Wayne Micallef, released his album two years ago, a collaboration of songs he's been working on for the past five years when he has also participated in the Maltese Eurovision selections with Where you belong , Save a life , Everybody sing , Time and Some kind of wonderful , but ended up representing Malta with the rest of Micallef family in the band Firelight and Coming home in 2014. Anyways, the title track of the album is his latest video.... Check out also Don't fade away . Excellent voice and beautiful ballads with some uptempo. That's Wayne. One of this blogger's long time Maltese favorites. And when I return from holidays I just may have some news for you.....

Jjoy Refalo is a Maltese DJ and having a summerhit with his Lovelife . A nice laidback tune that fits like a glove to your ears when having a nice cocktail in your hand under a palm tree by the sea..... Ah, la dolce vita!

Red Electric has been around for almost ten years I suppose and keeps releasing excellent songs besides performing live. They released their third album earlier this year, and it included also this tender nostalgic ballad with Malta Philharmonic Orchestra released for last Christmas. The most prominent young man of Malta 2015. That's Malcolm Pisani's title he was awarded, a familiar name from a few Maltese national selections for Eurovision but he's yet to make the cut for the semifiinals. Now he has teamed up with DJ's Ticli & Gas, who have previously worked with Kurt Calleja among others. 

Cinnamon War is an emerging rock band from Malta. They've been around since 2011 and the past two years have seen several releases and they also won the local Hard Rock Rising Competition, thus earning them a spot in the Global competiton. 

The Crowns may be familiar as interval act from Malta's national selection for Eurovision song contest earlier this year. Otherwise they are busy playing all over the island....

The Shack is Wayne Camillieri (Big Band Brothers) and Peter Borg (of Red Electrick). They have joined forces with Eliza Borg Rizzo (of Tribali) for this pop reggae that oozes New York's summer heat and is riding high in the Maltese charts. A great collaboration of Malta's finest. Love it!

Remember amazing Davinia with Bondesque Betrayed from Malta's national final 2013 where she placed third? Shes no longer betrayed but has been going on with her career and is one of the top hits in Malta's radios this summer with Reckless ..... Enjoy!

Planet Seed is Malta's alternative rock band fronted by Klinsmann Coleiro who has participated in the national Eurovision selection several times as well as the selections for Junior Eurovision, like the third placed She gives me wings . But that was nearly 10 years ago..... 

One team.Three artists. Unlimited possibilities. That's AYTO. And no.1 in the charts with this To the whistle. Perfect summer music!

Joe Roscoe is a twentysomething Maltese artist who has been releasing songs since 2013 when he was awarded as the best new act at Bay Music Awards and released his debut album last year.  He is currently living in Manchester. Maybe soon enough he will ready for The Big Move ? 

Rikki Lee is hot in the charts this summer with a Modern Talking cover Cheri cheri lady , but this Smile from two summers ago is full of sunshine - perfect for holidays!

  The Travellers is band from Malta with a great sound (check out also Semplicità  and Dak li int ) that would be like fresh air to Eurovision should they ever consider it (one can dream, no?). No better band name or music to kick of this Holiday in Malta series! And this is one of the most played songs on Maltese radios this summer, too :-) And I just may have more The Travellers news after I return..... Stay tuned! The Travellers, a young and energetic band, mostly known from their debut single ‘Sempliċità'  released their debut EP, including 5 original Maltese tracks, in April 2016. The band got together in 2013, with one aim in mind, that of trying to create something different in the already wide diversified local music scene.  Read more after the jump.....
