Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Poland announced their finalist for Krajowe Eliminajce on Saturday 11th, in the middle of the businest Eurovision evenings of the year. Smart move? Who knows. Anyways hardly no one noticed. Among the artist Eurovision veteran Marcin Mrozinski aka Martin Fitch. He's return to the contest has been only a matter of time. Or years. The Polish final has been postboned to February 18 from the original 11. Maybe it's a miracle or a legenda, even a crisalide still in love with you but  oh oh, uh, oh oh don't play that song again! What's another year? Too long for the organizers of Eurostarz in Concert event in London's The Star of Kings, in King's Cross in London on August 25, 2016 as they are bringing some Eurovision stars together for some fun and entertaining evening. Nikki French will be hosting and performing with Valentina Monetta , Alex Larke of Electro Velvet, Karl William Lund and Martin Fitch aka Marcin Mrozinsky as guest star.  It's a bit of a London affair as both Valentina and Martin these days have made London their home. Martin Fitch, formerly known as Marcin Mrozinski and Eurovision Poland fame, is making career in London has released You and I (also in Polish: Dzieli nas ). Nice radio friendly pop tune.

As expected Poland's absence didn't last but the football year 2012 and next year they are back it seems. There's no confirmation by EBU but apparently TVP has confirmed it themselves yet not telling how the entry will be selected this time. The Polish national final has often been rather good and they have sent some interesting and good songs as well, even if they haven't been so much favored by the voters. Poland has only made it twice to the final since the semifinals were introduced  in 2004 with Love song and in 2008 with For life but they have almost made it to the final in several occasions: 2005 and 2006 11th while in 2009-2010 they finished close 12th and 13th with I don't wanna leave and Legenda . Their 2011 entry Jestem was a fan favorite but dropped to 19th (one may also add the live performance wasn't that good, sadly.) Their best placing remains the debut in 1994 when Edyta Gorniak charmed Europe with To nie ja! and came 2nd...

Polish Eurovision veteran Marcin Mrozinski is returning to pop music and his latest single is a very catchy pop song I s that real love by the same author as his Legenda . He's got the voice, the looks... is it time for a big international breakthrough?

It seems Poland is withdrawing from Eurovision 2012 in Baku. They debuted with a bang back in 1994 when Edyta Gòrniak's To nie ja came second. Since then Poland has failed to make the top-10 with the exception of 2003 when Ich Troje's Keine Grenzen scored 7th place. The last seven editions Poland has made the final only once but even then Isis Gee's For life was only 23rd in the final. This blogger thinks Poland should have done a bit better most of the times as their songs have been better than their placements generally... like in 2004 , 2010 and 2011 for example. Well, hopefully they will be back in 2013 again when they don't have to host some footballing event....

Portugal's Setùbal hosts already for the third time Eurovision stars live in concert on September 10, 2011. The guest of honour is none other than Marie Myriam , the French winner of 1977 of Portuguese origin and this bloggers most significant ever Eurovision entry's performer. Other guests who have already had the taste of the Eurovision stage are Jari Sillanpää from Finland, Marcin Mrozinski from Poland, Igor Cukrov from Croatia,  Lucia Perez from Spain, Chiara from Malta and Andrea Demirovic from Montenegro. On top of that familiar names from various national finals: Chen Aharoni from Israel, Jenny Silver from Sweden besides local stars Filipa Ruas and Rui Andrade . I see there several names I'd love to see besides lovely Marie M but sigh, have to skip this time again..... :-(

The Finnish commentator Tarja Närhi was joking about Austria's Nadine Beiler last night as the Finnish bride and daughter-in-law but today the papers are reporting also the Austrian commentator was talking about the romance between the two artists who were seen spending time together already in Amsterdam's Eurovision in concert earlier this year... Do we have this year's Eurovision romance? Axel aka Paradise Oskar comments in Ilta-Sanomat: "Oh so they say? Of course I know Nadine, we met already in Amsterdam. She's nice. We have talked even here." You make the math.... Is the answer love or da da dam? (Remember last year Malta's Thea Garrett and Poland's Marcin Mrozinski?)

Apparently Maltese didn't take their missed qualification as gracefully Finns. She first complained the neighbouring voting with tears in her eyes but all was soon forgotten and later that night she was dancing the night away with Polish Marcin who also didn't pass to the final, as you can see in the pic (source: Times of Malta) Well, the media in Finland did their "told you so" and so did 70% of the nation. It seems that Finns have forgotten the years we never did make the final or had to skip every other year. We have been in the final 2006-2009, it's just a skip year no so what's the big deal. (Sad it is though). I wonder what the reaction in Slovakia has been? Anyone know? Slovakian reading, let us know! Also, the organisation has been only praised until now. First we got the harsh critic from fans and delegations for the empty arena for the dress rehearsals. Then I started hearing complaints for the Euroclub being too small. And of course things being too...

What are they thinking? Like the screamy parts weren't enough for the first time viewers we are treated to ladies with an apple in their mouth (stuffed pig anyone?) and cross marks. Add headlock and stripping violently one of the girls. What is this? In the end Marcin's last note makes all the ladies faint. What is this I ask again. I like the song and Marcin's wonderful but the show's beyond me. Video .

Marcin Mrozinski has released two remixes of his Legenda , both my Mafia Mike and one for radio and the other for clubs. Sounds good even that way, stripped from the ladies and having only Marcin in vocals. The DJ's in Oslo 2010 will have plenty of dance remixes this year as even Slovakia and Slovenia has several to choose from and then there are the ones from Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Armenia, Malta, Germany, Israel, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Lithuania, Switzerland.... and more is sure to come!

Marcin Mrozinski will have only ladies on stage with him to perform Legenda , unlike in the national final. Mirella Kostrzewa, Małgorzata Czaczkowska and Weronika Bochat (who already represanted Poland in the Junior Eurovision 2004) will do the vocals and Paulina Andrzejewska will be joined by Oliwia Kukułka forming an all female dancing couple. Marcin Mrozinski finally releases the new version of Legenda, his entry for Oslo 2010 for Poland. The release has been delayed due to the recent tragic events in Poland. The backing vocals and the orchestration are less challenging this time, especially in the intro. The song has its charm, like Spain has its and I like both.
