Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Tonight is the cover night. The artists perform songs of their choice with guest stars which means the Eurovision veterans Mahmood, Ricchi e Poveri, Emma, Il Volo will be joined by Francesco Gabbani, Umberto Tozzi, Fabrizio Moro and Ermal Meta (and tomorrow we will have Gigliola Cinquetti but that's another story). Previous years there's been some theme or era to choose songs from but this year Amadeus throw out all restrictions and therefor we have some insane (and unfair) efforts like Sangiovanni singing his Sanremo 2022 (!!!) entry, RengaNek singing a medley of their own songs ALONE. Ricchi e Poveri do their own songs BUT with Paola & Chiara, as does Alessandra Amoroso with Boombadash. Maninni wants to Fabnrizio Moro as he sings Non mi avete fatto niente with Ermal Meta. Fabrizio Moro is busy singing his songs with Il Tre. Rose Villain will do a medley of Gianna Nannini songs with Gianna Nannini while Alfa, Bnkr44, Irama, Clara, Mr.Rain, La Sad and Fred De Palma do a son...

 Sanremo's success is unstoppable. One thing for sure is good about this: the success proves one can do prime time entertainment based on music and songs and have success. No need to invite countless comedians, athletes and other celebrities to occupy hours of time. Sure, there have been some comedy acts, film promotions and such but if you compare to previous years it's been very little. Enough I'd say as it's been almost refreshing to have some Virginia Raffaele to make us laugh for ten minutes between songs. And she did sing, too. As have most every other guest. rethinking about the whole affair I'm ready to forgive even having so much Baglioni in the show. After all, he sings. Alone and with every guest and let him. It's music after all.... But back to success. Another over 50% share last night with an average of 10.108.000 viewers and 51,1% share. Tonight's the night for the Newcomers. We will know the top-3 and the eventual winner (apparently after ten first Big have performed). Thee Big instead perform their entries in duets with other more or less Big artists and this welcomes back to Teeatro Ariston likes of Alice, Arisa, Michele Bravi, Paola Turci, Giusy Ferreri, Marco Masini, Sergio Cammariere, Neri per Caso and Simone Cristicchi but also Skin and Midge Ure. Milva will be awarded a life time award, and Gianna Nannini and Piero Pelù are among the guests. The partial vote that will be revealed is that of the Expert jury, that counts 20% (while 50% is televote and 30% accredited press. Last night the first award was given to Ermal Meta for the best cover., but tonight finally we will know the newcomers winner. Tonight also the expert jury enters the game being led by Giorgio Moroder. And his over 50 years in music will be tributed with a show number. And all the votes from previous three nights are now zeroed and it all starts anew for the ranking. Comedian Virginia Raffaele makes a very welcome comeback, so does Luca Zingaretti aka Commissario Moltalbano. Ex-hostess Antonella Clerici is also present and tonight's foreign musical act is Robin Schulz. And Eros Ramazzotti's wife Marica Pellegrinelli. In today's press conference Conti has also reconfirmed he is not going to be doing Sanremo next year. Or the year after. Maybe sometime in the not so near future if asked. Shame.
