EUROVISION 2026: DENMARK - SOREN TORPEGAARDS LUND WINS DMGP 2026

The Danish national selection for Eurovision song contest 2026 took place tonight and the winner is Søren Torpegaard Lund. It was his second time in DMGP after Lige her in 2023 when he didn't reach the top-3. Søren Torpegaard Lund (27)  is a Danish singer, songwriter and actor. At the age of 17 he cecame the youngest ever student to be accepted to Den Danske Scenekunstskole. He has done several musical roles from West Side Story to Kinky Boots and even won awards for them. Past three years he has released few singles and an Ep. beforementioned Lige her being his debut. Other singles include En dreng som mig , Stor kunst and De ting jeg hvisker . There was an open call for entries and DR also invited record companies to send in their best offering. After selection committee and several national and international focus groups eight songs made it to the final. The number of submitted entries has not been revealed I believe. EUROVISION 2022: DANSK MELODI GRAND PRIX 2022 REVIEW

Denmark is one of the four countries having its national final for the Eurovision song contest 2022 this Saturday. There will be pre-voting online added to the votes on the night. The top-3 will then have a super final with zeroed votes. Denmark, just like Germany, seems to be a bit lost in their search for success. If I remember correctly they have the submission window open all year and these eight are the ones they came up with? Might be something wrong with the jury then. Or what do I know? Nice though there are quite a few songs in Danish! Patrick Dorgan - Vinden suser ind ** Quite nice voice and quite nice beginning but it takes two full minutes until anything happens really. And that's a long time at Eurovision. And what happens isn't much. Shame.  Confessions - Hallelujah ** Sounds very familiar. If you asked me I'd say the chorus is from some advertising for sanitary towel or something. Completely forgettable but pleasant at the same time. Could come alive live, or...

DENMARK: FYR OG FLAMME FOR EUROVISION 2021

The Danish national final Dansk Melodi Grand prix 2021 has had its minor scandal when they didn't invite last year's winners back. Who in turn made it very clear they didn't want to take part in a national final again but be selected internally. Then the new finalists were announced. And they came public with a song they had submitted. And not being accepted. Oh the drama in fandom! But truth to be said, it wasn't that good. But tonight there were eight songs, three made it to the superfinal and in the end pre-contest favorites Fyr Og Flamme won with  Øve os på hinanden . Chief 1 & Thomas Buttenschøn - Højt over skyerne came 3rd and Jean Michel - Beautiful was 2nd.  FINAL RESULTS: 1. Fyr & Flamme   37% 2. Chief 1 &  Thomas Buttenschøn   29% 3. Jean Michel    34%

EUROVISION 2020: BEN & TAN SAY YES TO DENMARK

Denmark had its DMGP 2020 final last night in an empty Royal Arena in Copenhagen due to the Coronavirus outbreak. One of the pre-contest fan favorites Ben & Tan won it easily while another fan favorite (mine, too)  Human  failed miserably. Benjamin Rosenbohm (17) and Tanne Amanda Ballcells (22) met while doing The Danish X Factor.  Such a shame the missing audience as the stage and production was beautiful. I just really don't agree with the Top-3 at all.... but so it usually is with Denmark and me.  After first round of ten member jury and televotes the Top-3 went to a Superfinal with only televote. Superfinal: 1. Ben & Tan - Yes  2. Sander Sanchez - Screens 3. Emil - Ville ønske jeg havde kendt dig First round: 1. Ben & Tan - Yes  2. Emil -  Ville ønske jeg havde kendt dig 3. Sander Sanchez - Screens 4. Maja & De Sarte Sjæle -  Den eneste goth i Vejle 5. Kenny Duerlund - Forget ...

DENMARK: DANSK MELODI GRAND PRIX 2020 TONIGHT

Denmark will have its final tonight. And there's reason to celebrate as it's the 50th time and thus the show moves back to Copenhagen and there's also the return of the live orchestra that will accompany each artist in varying capacity. There will be a ten member jury (50%) and televote (50%). The top-3 will then move on to the superfinal, voted by the same method. But then the celebrations and the whole is wasted on live public as DR has decided the show must go without pubvlic due to corona virus. How about all those people who travelled to Copenhagen? Took flights? Paid hotels and stuff? Nice. I guess they can kiss their money goodbye.... I have listened and judged the songs here when they were released and haven't listened them since....  Isam B - Bølger Ben & Tan - Yes Maja & De Sarte Sjæle - Den eneste goth i Vejle Benjamin Kissi - Faith Emil - Ville ønske jeg havde kendt dig Sys Bjerre - Honestly Jamie Talbot - Bye bye heaven...

DENMARK: HERE ARE THE DMGP 2020 FINALISTS

After the sort of regional mini semi-finals and added wildcard we have now also the internally preselected finalists so the line up is ready. Among the songwriters Tom Schou & Esben Svane of A Friend in London for Emil, Isam B co-wrote the 2012 entry Should've known better , Eurovision winning Lisa Cabble for Jasmin,  Beatboxer RoxortLoops was a member of Witloof Bay for Belgium in 2011. All in all rather un-Danish final I must say but still rather unimpressing. Most songs are "nice" as usual but maybe missing the proper hook or something to make it stand out. The staging will be once again rather crucial with live vocals. Who will make it then? With my first listening Jasmin Rose, Benjamin and Kenny were the only ones I cared to listen to the end.  Special mention to Den eneste goth i Vejle , a nice follow up to Fra Mols til Skagen .  Ben & Tan - Yes (East Denmark qualifier) *** Benjamin Kissi - Faith  *** Emil – Ville ønske jeg havde k...

Leonora (Colmor Jepsen, 20) has won the Danish Melodi Grand Prix 2019 and therefor represants her country in Tel Aviv Eurovision with Love is forever , a little happy tune that deeclares love is forever in several languages. She entered the super final after 50-50 televote-jury vote and scored 42% of the televotes in the second round. She's also is multiple Danish Junior Champion in ice skating. Is it only me or does she remind a lot of certain Emmelie? Leonora - Love is forever 42% Julie & Nina - League of light 35% Sigmund - Say my name 23%

DENMARK: LISTEN TO THE DMGP 2019 ENTRIES

Denmark has revealed its cards today and there are some familiar names from previous DMGPs. Julie Berthelsen teams with Greenlandic Nina Kreutzmann Jørgensen and their song includes some Greenlandic lyrics. Should they won we'd get to hear that for the first time in Eurovision song contest. Otherwise the songs include lyrics in French, German, Spanish and of course Danish. Also familiar names among the songwriters from Tim Schou ( Hold my breath ) to omnipresent Laurell Barker ( That vibe ) and John Ballard ( Dancing with you in my heart ). Kiss like this moves Tarkan 's ethnic classic to today's Latin sounds, and the rest of songs are the usual Danish bubblegum pop with a touch of country, and some a bit more modern efforts. Hard to think any of these doing any major damage in Tel Aviv's scoreboard.  Simone Emilie - Anywhere *** Jasmin Gabay - Kiss Like This **** Rasmus Faartoft - Hold My Breath * Marie Isabell - Dancing With You In My Heart * Sigmun...

EUROVISION 2018: SWISS GO SWEDISH, DENMARK REVAMPS, FRANCE AND MALTA HAVE AN OPEN CALL... THE NATIONAL FINAL ROUND UP

While Sweden with   Melodifestivalen   and Finland with   UMK approach Eurovision song contest 2018 with "business as usual" meaning now major changes to the selection or rules, Denmark is having a DMGP revamp. They will be focusing more on the staging  so more of a show and less of a song in sight again, and the submission period will be open all year around! However only songs submitted before September 15, 2017 will be considered for the 2018 contest. Send your song on September 16 for the 2019 instead in short. They also want more polished and studio recorded version and all that.  France has also launched the search already and will be having a national final. Good luck with that! Malta is in full swing, too. Send your entry before September 1 and pay 150 euros for the submission fee. Out of the submission a local jury will pick up 60 songs. Then a mixed local and international jury will shortliste them to 30. And then finally they will be only 16...

ESC 2017 REVIEW - DENMARK (30): ANJA NISSEN - WHERE I AM

Pictured is Denmark's national flower marguerite daisy Anja Nissen won the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2017 with Where I am , that she co-wrote with Angel Tupai and Michael D'Arcy. DR received this year a record breaking 1.115 submission and ten songs were selected to the final. Three songs were televoted to the superfinal where she got 64% of the votes being a clear winner.  Anja Nissen (21) was born and raised in Australia where in 2014 she won the Voice of Australia in will.i.am's team. She released an album and a string of singles but the career didn't really take off. In 2016 she was in Denmark, where her parents are from, and came second in the national final. And then we didn't hear of her until this year's selection that she won. Maybe it's her lucky break? This song for me is there with Germany, Poland and Serbia: midtempo female pop song that is harmless, forgettable and unoriginal in every way. more of an album track than one with real hi...

DENMARK: DANSK MELODI GRAND PRIX FINAL TONIGHT

Denmark has now missed the final twice in a row and are desperately looking for the song that would take them back to final and on the left side of the scoreboard. A record breaking 1.115 entries were submitted and a special jury chose these ten to the final. Now these will be judged by televoters and a five member jury of Danish Eurovision fans (sigh) in a two round voting with a superfinal. I must admit I didn't get excited by any of these with the first hearing..... Watch here from 20.00 CET Ida Una - One Thomas Ring - Vesterbro Rikke Skytte - Color my world Anja Nissen - Where I am Calling Mercury - Big little lies Anthony - Smoke in my eyes René Machon - Warriors Sada Vidoo - Northern lights Jeanette Bonde - Hurricane Johanna Beijbom - A.S.A.P.

DENMARK: LISTEN TO THE DMGP2017 ENTRIES

Denmark has released its finalists for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. One of these is supposed to take Denmark back to the final after two years stoppingin the semifinal.... good luck!  It's a very solid group of songs, none stands out nor is inferior to the others with the first impact. The live performances will be crucial once again to make them any way memorable or to break through....  Listen to the songs here

DENMARK: HERE ARE THE DMGP2017 ARTISTS

Denmark has revealed today its artists and song titles. After two years in a row of non qualification for the final they are eager to score well again. The jury that hands out half the votes (half of them being of course from televoters) will include five carefully selected superfans as well.  Among the artists a X Factor winner Thomas Ring, last year's runner up, Australian The Voice winner Anja Nissen, another X factor winner Anthony Lopez. ESC 2016 DENMARK: A TRIO OF SOLDIERS OF LOVE FOR THE GOOD CAUSES

The danish trio Søren, Johannes and Martin are real soldiers of love as each of them supports good causes, that are linked to their lives and they know what they are talking about. Their song captures the essence of their being. Explaining how important the song is to Lighthouse X, the group states the following: “It is the quintessential Lighthouse X song. No other song captures our message of love and hope and our vision of a better world as strongly as this one. So it’s a very important song to us, and when we perform it live, it feels truly empowering. We want to inspire everyone to be soldiers of love, and this is our battle hymn.”  The song was written the day after the terrorist attacks in Paris and inspired by them. Søren Bregendal supports grieving children and young adults that have either deadly ill or recently deceased siblings and parents. As a child, Søren suffered from quite severe OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a common, chronic and long...

ESC 2016 DENMARK: LIGHTHOUSE X WINS WITH SOLDIERS OF LOVE

Well, no one saw this coming, right? Anja Nissen finished 2nd and Simone 3rd.

ESC 2016 DENMARK: THE FINAL TONIGHT

Denmark is having its final tonight. Ten songs, picked out of 982 submission, will fight for the right to travel to Stockholm under the Danish flag. In two previous occasions when the Eurovision song contest has been held in Sweden Denmark has won.... the pressure is on! This bloggers think there's no fear they will win again, the songs aren't strong enough. This is a bit like #UMK16: good solid entries that are all "nice" but missing that something to make them winners.  Two rounds voting; first the superfinalists (3) will be chosen by 50-50 televotin/app-jury, then in the superfinal only televoting/app.  David Jay - Rays of sunlight   LIVE Simone - Heart shaped heart   LIVE   3rd Bracelet - Breakaway   LIVE Sophia Nohr - Blue horizon   LIVE Veronicas Illusion - The wrong kind   LIVE Lighthouse X - Soldiers of love   LIVE   1st Kristel Lisberg - Who needs a heart   LIVE Jessica - Break it good   LIVE M...

ESC 2016 DENMARK: HERE ARE THE FINALISTS

Oh Spotify! Once again it has leaked the Eurovision songs. Denmark suffers the first leak of the season - I'm surprised Finland hasn't leaked yet, after all they will be revealed already next Tuesday, lol - over 2 weeks before due time. Oh boy. (Listen here , apparently now available only in Nordic countries) but they all seem to be on Youtube already as well, until they will be taken down so go hunting!   UPDATE: LISTEN TO THE SONGS HERE Among the lucky ten we have only one returnee (Simone. She did DMGP 2010 and 2013) but then there's some foreign flavor. The Voice of Australia Anja Nissen is there but her parents are Danish so it's ok.  David Jay has Caribbean roots, Kristen comes from Faereo Islands but has done the Danish X Factor. Mario i an Italian, surname Sciacca and his Muri (Murah Mahmoud) has Arabic roots.  Rays of Sunlight – David Jay Heart Shaped Hole – Simone (Egeriis) To Stjerner – Muri & Mario Blue Horizon – Sophia Nohr The Wrong Ki...
