Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

  Bonnie Tyler has been around forever in various styles but the one I liked was and is the Jim Steinman produced massive sounding Bonnie. Her later Europop and Eurovision gigs didn't impress me much, even if her voice is unique, that's for sure.  Check out also

Once again some new sounds from Eurovision stars or wannabes of the past... Anouk is back with a new song. The of It's a new day video is dedicated to those who led the way and she potrays those women from Jeanne D'Arc to Princess Diana to Frida Kahlo and many many more. Simple but effective! Bonnie Tyler released a new album earlier this year and is currently touring Europe again. Hold on is the lead single of Between the Earth and the Stars, her 17th studio album. Les Fatals Picards have released a new album  Espèces menacées this year and this  Sucer des cailloux is already a second single off it. They may have lost their Eurovision lead singer Ivan Callot ages ago but not their goofy craziness. If you miss Ivan check his current band Les Rois d la Suède ... Felix Sandman keeps his solo career going strong despite bromancing with Benjamin Ingrosso. Something right is second single off his future album. 

Molly Smitten-Downes (27) is a singer-songwriter from Leicestershire. Not exactly an household name (yet) she scored her first top-10 hit already in 2008 with Raindrops . Another collaborations include I will learn to love again , Shadows and Never forget . But she wasn't really into that genre and has since gained notoriety among unsigned artists and even won the Best Urban/Pop artist award in 2012. Last year she won the Best song of the year award, so her career is taking big steps towards wide audience stardom. She got to BBC Introducing series and that's where they found and picked her instead of likes of rumored Geri Halliwell. Love Geri but this was a wise decision. The rumours about Geri Halliwell representing the United Kingdom in the coming Eurovisin song contest 2014 in Copenhagen have been all over the internet for weeks if not months already. Certainly she hasn't done anything to stop them, on the contrary. If chosen - or it seems rather if she accepts the job - she kind of continues the BBC trend, The Hump was big in the 70's, Bonnie in the 80's and Geri along with the Spice Girls in the 90's. In a couple of years BBC might give us something from the 2010's if we are lucky.... Anyways, Geri would be just taylor made for Eurovision in many ways. She could have an instant pop song, fabulous over the top staging and a house hold name in the most parts of Europe. And a lot of adoring (gay) fans, likable and funny enough personality to keep the media busy and entertained. And we continue with the home entry.... SWEDEN - Robin Stjernberg - You Sweden is still adjusting its performance to the perfection and further changes were made all over. Robin and his acrobats are still all over the stage though. This is a difficult song and shines or falls with Robin's vocals, so far he has been ok. The song builts slowly to the climax with pyros and rain of fire. Will it be enough? Hard to tell how this looks on telly, seeing on a video like this I'm not as impressed as I would like to be.... Next we have the biggest pre-contest name, a living legend.... Internationally that is. Locally the biggest star comes from Italy where Marco Mengoni is the hottest thing on earth right now and his army of fans, esercito is ferocius and determined that he will do well. So to speak. Both have been singing their entries on national TV and most likely giving us a hint how it'll look in Malmö 2013 Eurovision shortly. Ryan Dolan did The Late Late Show again and the act seems pretty much the same as it always was, only more rehearsed and polished perhaps. Here . The Netherlands - Anouk - Birds The Netherlands was very first one to announce their artist for Eurovision 2013, yet it was one of the last ones to unveil the song, and the only one not having yet any proper live performance available of the song. All we know it's going to be simple, most likely Anouk alone on stage. The song was met with huge relief and applause and praise to surprise some Dutch that they actually might have a chance this year. Anouk can deliver, and is about as big in NL as Mengoni is in Italy and she has some fame to claim to her name also in Scandinavia and somewhere else, too. Will it help her? The song is a tender simple waltz like thing, very pleasant but... Will it work? I have some doubts even if I like it. Bonnie Tyler has released a dance mix to her Believe in me , the UK entro for the Eurovision 2013 in Malmö. Surprisingly retro affair it is, not very ravishing is it?

Bonnie Tyler has revealed she was asked back in 1983 to represent UK in the Eurovision. But she was having a worldwide success with Total eclipse of the hear t and was too busy in the USA where the song also topped the charts for four weeks to do it. Wrong timing. But now she proud and honored to do it and believes Believe in me has the right title and ingredients to do well. "I'm still having success in Europe. I expect some votes from Germany, France and Scandinavia to start with. I hope I can win it, at least I'm gonna give my best shot!" She is known for her leather outfits but for the Eurovision we won't be seeing leather pants, Welch designer Julien MacDonald will take care of that. The Finnish media has been giving a little more attention to the other countries selections anc choices so far than usual. Estonian Winny Puhh was closely followed, or rather their not winning. Bonnie Tyler made the news instantly. As usual the Swedish final got attention as well, also because it is shown live on Finnish TV-channels as well and many people watch it. Today the sour remarks of YOHIO after his failure to win has been written about as well as the international jury. Even Cezar from Romania gets a moment in the spotline. Short and to the point: Krista will beat him. The commentator also takes note of the mediocre and weird songs selected here and there.... One can expect the presence of numerous Finnish journalists in Malmö 2013 unlike in Baku 2012....

As soon as Bonnie Tyler was announced the UK entrant for the Eurovision song contest 2013 the usual age racists were attacking the choice, mostly people who weren't even born when she hit the charts. Unlike Humpy last year, she is still very much known and remembered in various parts of Europe and is a house hold name. Maybe not scoring major hits anymore but still going on tours and performing, recording, collaborating..... Her 16th studio album Rocks & Honey has been just released. It's been confirmed! The british media is going wild with the rumor it's Bonnie Tyler (61) representing UK in this year's Eurovision in Malmö. Born as Gaynor Hopkins and owing her youthful looks to biannual Botox injections, as she credits herself, she scored her first world hit with It's a heartache in 1977. Songs like Total eclipse of the heart and Holding out for a hero are her biggest hits from her Jim Steinman produced albums in the early 1980's that are among this bloggers favorites. The entry is apparently called Believe in me and written by American Desmond Child who needs no presentation.... Bonnie + Desmond promises very good things... it's almost like getting Cher to do Eurovision! Ravishing ! Update : Just to prove she is still somebody somewhere, the news about her were online in Finnish media within an hour after BBC. The only other Eurovision 2013 related news to get any interest has been Tony Iommi's link to the Armenian song........

Today has been all about United Kingdom and BBC's possible choice for Malmö 2013 Eurovision. The names have been flying like there's no tomorrow but apparently it's going to be a power ballad by a female singer. Is it going to be already previously rumored Kimberley Walsh of Girls Aloud? Or a local favorite and ex-child star Bonnie Langford ? Or another, better known Bonnie 'Total exlipse of the heart' Tyler , a new name to the race?! Or Kim Wilde , this blogger's eternal favorite to do Eurovision but how will be put that with a power ballad? That could be easily handled though by Shirley Bassey , a Bond themes legend and certainy would be a classy pick. And then we have also Alesha Dixon , ex-Mis-teeq and Strickly come dancing winner...  Time and BBC will tell in coming days who it's going to be... after Engelbet Humperdinck anything is possible!
