Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Belgium chose Axel Hirsoux (32). He has taken part in several talent shows since 2001 and finally hit gold in the Belgian national selection Eurosong . He's got a great voice, no doubt and this blogger liked his efforts a lot in the selection process. When his entry Mother was revealed, I was less enthuastic....But I seem to be in minority as he is one of the main favorites to win this year.... Robert: There was no better song for me in the disappointing Belgian selection this year. Therefor I chose Axel's song but certainly not because I love it so much. I see that he can attract a lot of votes with his voice, song and presentation and maybe win the whole thing, but in the end we won't understand anymore why we voted for him because the song gets irritating quickly I'm afraid.  Blogilkar: I agree with my bicycling reporter Robert what he said about the song. The Belgian final line up is already a done deal. Two songs from each semifinal qualified. I think the goodies were delivered already in the first and second one, while some seem to be rather taken by Mother. Axel is a great singer no doubt and even if I love my mum like the next guy that song makes me only think about Italian mammoni and their mother complex. In fact this song would do wonders in Italian and in Sanremo instead.... Mamma! On the other hand Mother's Day is in many countries on May 12 this year.... Yet I find it fake and calculated, not honest at all. I'm in between Eva's classic Euroballad oozing positivity and hope and Sil's dramatic and somewhat sad song that needs some attention to be appreciated. Or maybe Yass in the end? I like that one, too. It would be nice to hear some French for a change as well.  That's what I say but who knows what the Belgian people will vote.... Belgium has been sorting out singers until now but now we are getting into serious business. Four entries tonight will be voted by a jury and televotes and only two will make the final line up. You can watch it online here from 20.30 CET. Tonight also the mysterious Day One with fitting song title - is it Kate Ryan or not? Eva and Udo are maybe oldfashioned and still need work with their staging (Udo, drop the dancers) while Day One believed a bit too musch to their masks and came across only wierd and unlikable. Petra was a cliche show burlesque number that was entertaining and fun to watch but who I want to hear the song ever again? No. A bit like I wanna, ...

Belgium has been playing around with the old Eurovision songs in their casting shows and call back aka second chance round. A masked group Day One has caused some stir as they haven ' t revealed their real identity and among others Kate Ryan has been said to be the singer.... sooner or later the masks must come down and we will see..... Now we have finally the semifinalists, 12 of them. Three semifinals will follow now, each with four acts two of them making the final where there will be then six acts if my math's right. There will be televote-international jury deciding on the winner then in the final. Belgium had it's start for selecting their entrant for Copenhagen 2014 Eurovision. In this casting thing the artists had to sing an Eurovison entry (yes, another country goes for this option!) and in the end four artists got the ticket to the final, four got a ticket to a call back (or second chance) and the other may dream on....
