Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Now I'm a bit surprised and buzzled. Whereas the Armenian video was light and colorful the staging is very dark and Artsvik and her two dancers are dressed in dark, too, making them disappear time to time into the scenery. The choreograhy - mainly hands here, too - is clever and special effects or the lights collaborating with the sounds and fireworks towards the end all work and are perfect. I'm still surprised this was ranked the best rehearsal in the first round of all semifinalists in Press Poll.  I don't find it that good.... But what do I know? 

  Armenia goes for full blast hand choreography when the number of dancers is limited only two instead of six she had on video if I remember right. Pink, purple and red are the main colors in the backdrop and some Armenian patters are also featured to underline the ethnic vibe of the song. Vocally she's on point but she's casually dressed for this first rehearsal so we have to wait and see the whole concept yet. Dry ice and pyros to top the staging. This hasn't been nowhere near my top favorites but I guess it's safe to say this will qualify without any problems. 

Pictured is apricot, the national fruit and symbol of Armenia Armenia had one of the longest national selections  of the season, Depi Evratesil. It started with auditions in September 2016 and continued in October with judges selections and finished on Christmas Eve when Artsvik was chosen as the artist beating Marta in the final with 71%.  Previous Armenian Eurovision stars were judges/mentors in this The Voice meets X Factor kind of talent show. Then we had to wait til march for the song. Fly with me is written by Lilith Navasaryan, Levon Navasardyan, Avet Barseghyan and David Tserunyan. Artsvik Harutyunyan (32) was born in Armenia but moved to Moscow iwth her family when she was 5. She studied mathematics and speech therapy before music took over. In 2012 she joined Jazz Parking Project and took part in Golos, the Voice of Russia. Since then she has been performing and last year returned to Armenia with the wish to represent her original homeland at the Eur...

Last but not least, the very last entry for the Eurovision song contest 2017 has been presented to us common mortals. Was it worth the wait? Yes and no. She's not Ofra Haza (bless her soul) for sure, nor Madonna (as in Frozen ). The song promises a lot with good interesting ideas but fails to deliver going nowhere. Maybe it's the production that fails? Have they focused too much on the stage presentation? This said, it's still better than about two dozen other songs perhaps, simply not being the pop tune created by Eurovision clichés and attemps to please the fans (Serbia comes to mind...). Yet there's no danger we will end up in Yerevan next year.
