Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Super Pippo Younger Eurovision fans only know Amadeus and Carlo Conti as Sanremo gods but there's one man who has done more than anyone else, launched more Italian global stars , shaped more the Italian music scene in television than anyone else. He could really own the slogan he had created: "I have invented her/him/them!" The only miss I can think about his career is that he didn't get involved in Eurovision - if he put his efforts in Eurovision as much as in Sanremo Italy would have quite a few more wins I think. The man is of course Pippo Baudo. Born Giuseppe Raimondo Vittorio Baudo June 1936 in Sicily near Catania and died in Rome on August 16, 2025 at the age of 89. He studied law and became a lawyer but entertaining world was what he wanted to do and he started working as an actor, comedian, singer and pianist in the 1950's. Laura Pausini, a global superstar, was the hostess of the Eurovision song contest 2022 and in true Italian aka Sanremo style her outfits were designed by top design houses, one per every evening. More outfits were displayed in her grand final opening number. She also caused a bit of a commotion when in the final she disappeared from screens and left Alessandro Cattelan and Mika alone during the voting.  She had a drop of blood pressure and had to rest for about 20 minutes. This adds to Italian stars with unlucky moments in this week after Il Volo's Gianluca had to perform on video being in Covid-19 guarantee, and Måneskin's Damiano performing clearly in pain due to an ankle injury... Ops, they did it again! Sanremo 2022 started with a bang: 54,7% share, an average of 10,9 million people watching, especially young folks (71% of 15-19 yrs old and still 65% of 15-34 yrs old) with peak of 16,5 million and the best start of these three Amadeus era Sanremos that have been highly successful in every sense. Last night's show even almost stayed in schedule and the flow was good, no dull moments but a steady flow of things happening and songs being performed. Well done! Amadeus co-hostess tonight is Lorena Cesarini, Fiorello might be there or then not.  The Eurovision song contest hosts in Turin might be announced or then not. The rumor is they are Laura Pausini, Alessandro Cattelan and MIKA. At least MIKA has been spotted in Sanremo already yesterday. But Arisa and Malika Ayane are there to launch the voting for the XXV Olympic Games anthem, and Laura Pausini anyways to present her new song Scatola . It's been just hours when the first cities announced they want to host it ( read more here ) but also first proposals to conduct it. Who said Italy wan't willing to win & host Eurovision? Or is it a classic case that everyone wants to have a piece of action now? But just like with the lack of suitable arenas Italy has also a problem of suitable hosts for the simple fact the conductors must speak fluent English and quite a lot of French, too. Or, let me phrase it again: There are those who can do the job but it might take awhile before the audience and people in charge realize they can't put there some random Amadeus & Fiorello to attract home audience to the screens (Amadeus indeed has said he'd consider it) like they did in 1991 with Toto Cutugno & Gigliola Cinquetti .   Tonight's the 93rd Academy Awards show in Los Angeles and Laura Pausini's Io si (Seen) is nominated for the Best Original Song being the very first song entirely in Italian to be nominated! Written by Laura herself with Diane Warren and Niccolo Agliardi the song is from The Life Ahead, a film by Eduardo Ponti starring his mother, legendary Sophia Loren. This is Diane Warrenäs 12th (!!!) nomination  but she's yet to win the Oscar, so it'd be about the time! The song has already won the Golden Globe among many other awards and is pending to win some more.  Laura has released the song in Italian, English, Spanish, french and Portuguese and Italian/English version. PS. As an Eurovision fan I should be probably keep thumbs up for another song but honestly I haven't even seen that film and really don't even care to see it...... The Life Ahead is fantastic by the way! See it!

  A new day in Sanremo, or rather night, after yesterday's start that was in my opinion a bit slow and underwhelming what comes to the songs and the overall experience and it all can't be put on the absence of the live public. Tonight continues with the same formula as last night: first four Newcomers battle out the two places in Friday's final, and then the remaining 13 Big present their songs. Or is could be 12: Due to the positive Covid-19 cases in Irama 's entourage he is not allowed to perform live according the strict rules. Amadeus is trying to find a solution by using a rehearsal tape instead if Irama and all the other artists agree. We will find out later tonight. Missing tonight also Zlatan as he's got a game today to play.... Elodie will be tonight's co-hostess and there will be a string of other guests: Eurovision royalty Gigliola Cinquetti, Fausto Leali and Il Volo (in doubt though due to sudden death of Ignozio's father), fresh Golden Globe ...
