ITALY: SANREMO 2021 - SECONDA SERATA

 

A new day in Sanremo, or rather night, after yesterday's start that was in my opinion a bit slow and underwhelming what comes to the songs and the overall experience and it all can't be put on the absence of the live public. Tonight continues with the same formula as last night: first four Newcomers battle out the two places in Friday's final, and then the remaining 13 Big present their songs.
Or is could be 12: Due to the positive Covid-19 cases in Irama's entourage he is not allowed to perform live according the strict rules. Amadeus is trying to find a solution by using a rehearsal tape instead if Irama and all the other artists agree. We will find out later tonight.
Missing tonight also Zlatan as he's got a game today to play....
Elodie will be tonight's co-hostess and there will be a string of other guests: Eurovision royalty Gigliola Cinquetti, Fausto Leali and Il Volo (in doubt though due to sudden death of Ignozio's father), fresh Golden Globe winner Laura Pausini, Marcella Bella, Negramaro, Gigi D'Alessio, footballer Christiana Girelli, Olympic champion runner Alex Schwazer. Achille Lauro will perform with Claudio Santamaria and Francesca Barra.

Tonight I really don't have a favorite among the Newcomers, the best ones for me got to the final last night. But I did have a slight preference to Wrongonyou and he qualified, as did Davide Shorty, the male Valentina Monetta. The real jazz Valentina.

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

Nina Badrić for Croatia

Croatian TV went for internal selection in the end and chose Nina Badrić. She has been around for almost 20 years and has released ten albums between 1995 and 2011. She has also treid to get to Eurovision four times already without a win (1993, 1994, 1995 and 2003). She is popular also in the other ex-Yogoslavian countries so let those 12s run in.... #ESC 2014 RUMOUR: SERGEY LAZAREV FOR RUSSIA?

Russia remains the country with very little news about their participation. A national final was scheduled originally for the new year's 2013 but then cancelled. Some have made themselves available like the Buranovskye Babushki but now another rumor has emerged: Sergey Lazarev. More credible this one. The eternal competitor with Dima Bilan for the most popular male artist in the country has tried to get to Eurovision in the past ( Flyer in 2008, when he lost to.... Bilan, as well as a member of a boyband some moons ago before that). He's also a popular TV-presenter and household name in Russia. Just like Bilan he has also tried an international career, that is yet to explode outside the ex-USSR countries.  Here he makes fun of Bilan, with Bilan himself. Lazarev's songs include Cure the thunder , В САМОЕ СЕРДЦЕ , СЛЕЗЫ В МОЕМ СЕРДЦЕ , Unreal love , Vspomonai .... DANNY SAUCEDO: I WOULD HAVE WON, TOO

Danny Saucedo, who lost to Eric Saade last year with In the club , and to Loreen with Amazing this year caused a stir the night Melodifestivalen 2012 final was held by leaving the arena and not showing up at the after party giving statements like "I would have done better. Loreen will not work in Europe" and similar in the same line. After Loreen won his Facebook and Twitter was flooded by nasty comments that he had to answer something like "C'mon people give me a break! I'm happy for her win!" One would have thought that was it but no. Danny boy is at it again in Aftonbladet: "No one could have done better now that Loreen has won. But I'm still convinced I would have won, too. I think any Swedish entry would have won this year. It was Sweden's turn. But I'm happy for Loreen. And very sad for those comments and threats online." Next month both Loreen and Danny will be singing to crown princess Victoria's birthday party so let...
