ITALY: FRANCESCO GABBANI MEETS DESMOND MORRIS IN OXFORD

Francesco Gabbani took the opportunity to meet the author of The Naked Ape Desmond Morris in his home in Oxford while he was in United Kingdom. From London's Eurovision Party to surreality of the meeting he wrote on his Facebook: Today I had the incredible privilege of meeting Desmond Morris in his home in Oxford. Apart from the surreal circumstances, comparable perhaps to have coffee with Heraclitus, I had proof that the wisdom and greatness of a man are directly proportional to humility and simplicity with the ability to express very profound concepts! Thanks Desmond And while Francesco charmed the pants off everyone in London his Occidentali's Karma has went triple platinum in Italy. And the video is nearing 82 million views. Soon it will become the most watched Eurovision related video beating Il Volo's Grande amore . Alexander Rybak's Fairytale is already beaten. In Spotify we are at over 9 million at the moment..... Next for him is Eurovision in c...

ITALY: HERE'S FRANCESCO GABBANI'S EUROVISION TEAM ON STAGE

Italy has revealed it's team on stage in Kyiv's Eurovision. Italy is by far the biggest pre-contest favorite to win it by bookmakers and fans alike, maybe the biggest ever as far as I can remember. Not even Loreen's Euphoria was welcomed with such euphoria as Occidentali's Karma . Let's see if the good karma brings Italy its third victory.... Francesco Gabbani and his ape (choreographer and dancer Filippo Ranaldi ) will have four backing singers: Francesco's brother Filippo Gabbani . also co-writer of the song. Then there will be Chantal Saroldi aka Chanty, that one might remember from Sanremo 2015 Newcomers, Nausicaa Magarini , who has participated in both The Voice of Italy and Sanremo Giovani without much success but has toured with legendary, now retired Milva. And finally Daniele Sari , familiar from Italy's Got Talent and for his love for 50's music and rockabilly that he performs with his band all over Italy for example.

ITALY: ALSO DESMOND MORRIS IS FAN OF OCCIDENTALI'S KARMA

As we know Francesco Gabbani's Sanremo winner and Italy's Eurovision song contest 2017 entry Occidentali's karma takes idea from the English zoologist and ethologist Desmond Morris book The naked Ape , published in 1967. The book has sold tens of millions of copies and it has become again a bestseller in Italy this month. But the faith is also Desmond Morris (89) has recently reworked an updated version of it to be published shortly. However he says it all still stands and all he had to do was to update some facts and figures.  Morris who lives in Oxford declares to La Repubblica newspaper he's a fan of The naked Ape coctail (gold rhum, dark rhum, lemon and banana - I have to try that, Ed.note ) and he adores Gabbani.  "I listened to the song and it's wonderful, so rich with quotations. I also had to watch the beautiful video and for sure you will find me in front of the television in May to cheer Gabbani at Eurovision! I would love to meet him but sa...

ITALY: FRANCESCO GABBANI FAN FAVORITE FOR EUROVISION 2017

(It's actually Daniele Alessandrini) Francesco Gabbani with his Occidentali's Karma is the favorite amongst Italian fans (and not only) for Eurovision song contest 2017 in Kyiv. But first he should win the festival or at least finish 2nd or 3rd to be even considered. And this could well happen. It's a catchy uptempo song that at first glance seems just like that, even with the gorilla on stage but the lyrics reveal so much more. It's based on Desmond Morris famous study The Naked Ape , Gabbani explains: "The song is very ironic because the irony is the spice of life and it is synonymous with intelligence, The song, although it has a catchy rhythm, it's actually very serious. It wants to be a critical  towards the contemporary habit of Westerners to copy the rites and oriental disciplines like yoga without understanding them at all, just because they are fashionable So I thought of a choreography: I wanted to play down these habit and manners."...
