Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Hungarian A Dal has its first semifinal tonight after three heats where six songs qualified for the final. Now we are down to 18 and nine will be heard tonight, this time three songs will be saved by the jury, and one of the remaining ones by the televoters. In this one we have the winners of Semifinals 2 and 3, three runner ups and no one saved by televoters). Hungary's A dal continues tonight with the second heat. Once again the judges + App send five acts straight to the next stage, and from the losers televoters will save another one. Previous winner András Kállay Saunders is back with his band, as are familiar names from previous selections from Karmapolis to Gergö and fan favorite Passed. A bit bland semi this one. Gergö brings some nice ethnic vibe to it, Group'n'Swing come useless cabaret, Karmapolis is good with its atmospheric entry that makes me think of Police and Sting for some reason, and Passed is again enjoyable. Hungary has released full versions of all the 30 songs in A Dal running to be the country's entry for Stockholm 2016 Eurovision song contest. Listen by clicking the titles.... I have tgought for years A Dal is one of the best and most interesting national finals around, but this time I am a bit disappointed. With first hearing I was kinda taken only by Freddie, Oliver & Andi, Karmapolis and of course Kállas Saunders. Well, maybe the songs will come alive when on stage..... Who is your favorite? Hungary will have its first semifinal this Saturday. My favorites are Ádám Szabó, Karmapolis, Zoltán Mujahid, Vera Tóth, Timi Antal.... Now that was a very little review wasn't it? This said Szabó seems like the strongest one here, Antal could be very strong if she gets her act together, Vera can be hypnotic and mysterious and Zoltán has a very good act. I like Karmapolis a lot, but isn't it a bit same as Compact Disco? I still need to warm up to Boggie that scored so well with the juries and left me wondering why.....  The songs were selected in three semifinals, five qualifying by the jury (you can see their given points below) and then one song was selected by the televoters from the remaining). I suppose the same goes for the semifinal (4+1). As usual the standard of the songs is very high, without being Eurovision plastic and Eurovision by numbers like is the case in many national selections unfortunately. The first Hungarian heat was presented tonight and once again the level of the songs is very high. Hungary is so going to win Eurovision very time soon. Tonight the jury and voters had hard time to pick up the qualifiers and as you can see in the points it was very even. The jury had to pick up two of the three songs with 37 points for the next step and unfortunately Balazs Farkas Jenser was left out and didn't survive the televote for the remaining act as Timi Antak emerged as viewers' favorite from there. This blogger doesn't entirely agree with the result but then there were just too many god ones!
