FINLAND: WALDO TO UNDERGO CORONARY ARTERY OPERATION

From the series Where are they now? there are news about Waldo's People's Waldo aka Marko Reijonen (52). He says he's been suffering for a long time unexplainable tiredness, like living in a permanent jetlag state also thanks to his way of life as an artist. Now the reason is out: he has to undergo an operation for coronary artery disease. This comes as no surprise as his dad died of heart attack at the age of 52, and his granddad at the age of 44. He says some of his veins are blocked up to 70%! This blogger gives Waldo thumbs up and it'll surely all go well and he'll be like new afterwards! Waldo is not alone with his health problems, as Emma also announced she has to put her career on hold for a moment. .... Waldo's is still doing gigs actively, also thanks to the 90's revival shows and festivals. At the moment he's touring with Ysärin Kuninkaalliset (90's royalty) Tour with another 90's superfavorite Movetron .

Verjamem for Bosnia-Herzegovina, Waterline for Sweden... no, it didn't go like that!

Vladimir Graić revealed in an interview that the song Verjamem , that won the Slovenian national selection sung by Eva Boto was actually the song intended as the Bosnia-Herzegovina's entry and Hari Mata Hari before they changed their mind. And then we have learned the Irish entry Waterline sung by  Jedward is a Melodifestivalen reject, apparently the demo was sung by Eric Saade. (Oh the irony when last year the media tried to make a war between them but now it looks like it's 2-0 for Saade) And we also know the Danish entry  In a moment like this that took Denmark to 4th place two years ago was also a Melodifestivalen reject. One might like to point out the Swedish entry failed to make the final that year. Also, the Finnish Movetron failed to make the UMK top-40 so they sent the song to Lithuania instead - and failed to pass the semifinal there. And how many there are we don't know? What's the point with this all? Is it fair? I miss the days when the Eurovisio...

Movetron in Lithuania tonight

The Lithuanian national selection continues tonight with the fourth and last semifinal. Amongst the songs is Medieval love, that MOvetron sent to UMK and were not accepted even amongst the top-40. They sent it to Lithuania instad and hired a local lead singer (as the rules request so) and she sounds exactly like Päivi. Here is the song. Do you think it will have better faith in Lithuania than in Finland? Not if you ask the local jury that ranked them last already while Donny Montell won the jury vote and should sail to the final with Love is blind . And hopefully wins this time. Finally!

Lithuania reveals the 47 - and yes, there's a Finn!

Lithuanian TV has shortlisted the sent in songs and 47 remain in the race. Amongst them are several familiar names like Donny Montell but most of all Movetron from Finland. But as the rules in Lithuania require a local lead singer they found Vaida Narkeviciute who sounds pretty much like Päivi. Movetron will be the backing band for her and is investing their time and money for the project and will try a breakthrough in the Baltics. The song Medieval love was originally sent to UMK but YLE didn't pick it up to the top-40 and they decided to look beyond the borders. They are no strangers for Eurovision as they were the superfavourites in the 2008 Euroviisut with Cubido but failed to win that time. Let's see how far they get in Lithuania. Here are the Lithuanan songs in the race still: 1.Donny Montell – Love is blind 2.Monika – Happy 3.The Independent – Baby 4.Jurijus Veklenko – Tu ne viena 5.Sati – Light is the one 6.Neringa Siaudikyte – Run away 7.Elvina Milkauskaite –...

UMK 2012 wannabes. Will they make the cut?

Several artists have publicly announced they have sent in a song to the UMK 2012. First of them was glamour celebrity showgirl Martina Aitolehti , followed by designer singerwannabe Teuvo Loman , popstar turned tabloid celebrity Tauski , 1980's teenage popstar Anja Niskanen , 1990's Eurodance act Movetron and heavyrockers Korpiklaani . I wouldn't be surprised if none of them made the cut. Most likely to do so is propably Korpiklaani while Martina might be included for the PR and visibility she would give the contest in media. The one I hope will make it is Anja Niskanen ... But then we haven't heard the songs and who knows what kind of surprises we have in store? Next Monday we will know!
