Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

  Just like the past year's the Sanremo winner will be representing Italy in the Eurovision song contest 2020, but with a twist. If the rules have been rather loose before now it's all set with documents and signed papers. Namely, every Big participant and their record label has to sign papers if they wish to do Eurovision in the case of victory before the festival starts. Should the winner be one of those few who decides not to sign the paper, Rai will choose the represent by their own criteria.  All this will make things clearer and faster after the victory. Last year Mahmood said in the press conference the night after his victory "yes" only to withdraw his answer the day after and it took a few days to settle things and confirm it. Fabrizio Moro (41) returns to Sanremo for the 5th time. In 2000 he tried his luck in the newcomers with much of a success, but he came back in 2007 and won it with Pensa . The year after he was 3rd among Big with Eppure mi hai cambiato la vita . Last time he was in 2010 but didn't go that far. In between he has written Sanremo entries for Noemi ( Sono solo parole ) and for Valerio Scanu ( Finalmente piove ). This year he is back with Portami via (Take me away) Born and raised in Roman suburbs (just like Eros Ramazzotti) provides him an endless insiration for his songs. He has also tires the Latin market singing in Spanish, like Situaciones de la vida and Linda como eres . He has also written songs for other artists like Fiorella Mannoia , Emma , Elodie and  last year's Samreo winners  Stadio .  His 9th studio album Pace will be released after the festival. 

The rules for the 67th Sanremo festival are out and once again it is used as the platform for the Italian entry - or rather the entrant as nothing is said about the song - for the Eurovision song contest in Kyiv. The winner has the option to fly the Italian flag if (s)he wants to and is the first choice. In case of "no, grazie" by the winner Rai will choose internally whoever they think suitable unlike in 2016 when it clearly stated the runner up would be next in line and gave us Francesca Michielin when Stadio declined the offer. Another interesting step is shortening the entries. Now for the Big category it is set to max 3:30, and for the Newcomers 3:00. Sounds very Eurovisionesque, doesn't it? Some changes in the line up of the evenings, too. All the 20 Big aka Campioni will perform already the first night and be voted 50-50 by televote-press. First news from the Italian riviera of flowers. The 67th Sanremo festival will take place on February 7 to 11, 2017 and the host will be for the third year in a row Carlo Conti, hoping to triple his success with the ratings and praise. Maybe he will be even third time lucky and make his dream of having Laura Pausini as his co-hostess true? Time will tell. Anyways, by now she has also proved she can carry a live tv show, be a hostess, comedienne and singer all at once after her success with Laura & Paola show on Raiuno with Paola Cortellesi. In 2016 he got her only as a guest....  For the rest it seems there won't me any major changes in the formet. Area Sanremo has already started the selection for the two newcomers that will reach the stage of Teatro Ariston, and the rest will come in due time. Stadio has won the 66th Sanremo festival with Un giorno mi dirai . They would have the right to represant Italy in the Eurovision song contest 2016 in Stockholm but they have said Nej tack already before so RAI is discussing who it will as we speak. Maybe second placed Francesca Michielin or third placed Giovanni Caccamo & Deborah Iurato? They both have expressed a will to do it.
