FINLAND: NUMBER ONES IN 2016 - FINNISH MUSIC BEATS FOREIGN 21-5

The 2016 was rich with Number One songs in the official singles chart. A total of 26 songs made it, and the most remarkable thing is 21 of them were Finnish! Sadly only Finnish (humour) rap though. The foreign number ones go to Alan Walker, Justin Bieber featured by Mazor Laser or DJ Snake, and Clean Bandit & co.  Elastinen and JVG are featured in four #1's, Mikael Gabriel, Sanni, Cheek and Arttu Lindeman in three and even Nikke Ankara in two. Doesn't leave much for the others.  Looking at the streaming, download and radioplay charts it's a different story.... Thankfully.  JVG - Paluu tulevaisuuteen (weeks 1-2) Alan Walker (feat. Isolin Solheim) - Faded (weeks 3-4-5-6) Sanni - Että mitähän vittua (weeks 7-8-9) Cheek - Me ollaan ne ,  part 2 (Feat. Elastinen, JVG, Nikke Ankara, Kube, Pete Parkkonen) (weeks 10-11) Elastinen feat.  Lauri Tähkä - Lempo (weeks 12-13) Nikke Ankara - Ettei nyt vaan sattuis mitään (week 14) Eveliina - Sire...

NUMBER ONES IN FINLAND IN 2015

Another year has passed and it's time to look back who managed to score a #1 hit in the official Finnish charts.... Once again the chart is dominated by foreign DJs and Finnish rappers and most every act has "feat." in it. But hey, one Eurovision entry is one of the biggest hits of the year: Vicky Rosti's Sata salamaa covered by Antti Tuisku in Vain elämää series. Also another cover from that series made it to number one: VilleGalle and Sanni doing Pave Maijanen's classic Lähtisitkö . And another Eurovision link is UMK host Roope Salminen having one of the summer hits.  Only 18 songs made it, and Finnish ones beat the foreign ones 10-8 :-) Check all their videos after the jump.... Oops, I forgot there are 53 weeks in 2015! This one's the new number one 53/2015:

WklyVids: Satin Circus, Anggun & Natasha St-Pier, Sandoval, Elokuu

Roll over, One Direction. Just like Isac Elliot will kick some Bieber ass Satin Circus will take over the world with their Emma . Or so the Finnish record bosses seem to think. What do you think? Two French Eurovision veterans, Anggun and Natasha St-Pier have joined forces in Vivre d'amour.   Not bad but one would tthink these two ladies could do better? Sandoval has covered Arisa's fantastic Sanremo song La notte in Spanish as La noche . Somehow quite different from Arisa's fragile and emotional original, isn't it?  Pernilla Karlsson's brother's band Elokuu is having another hit in Finland with Tänään lähtee ....

Everyone is welcome to wish her well and see her off to Malmö and wedding theme wardrobe is desirable. Join in the fun here . She will also have her album release gig in Apollo club on June 8, 2013. Join in that fun here . Yesterday she was performing at the season opening concert in Linnanmäki amusement park in Helsinki and obviously did Marry me . KRISTA SIEGFRIDS PERFORMING LIVE FOR BELIEBERS AND IN LINNAMÄKI

Justin Bieber was in Finland and resulted as fainting and screaming fans as everywhere. On Friday afternoon a warm-up concert was held in Kaisaniemi park with some 4.000 fans attending and the list of artists included Robin (not the Swedish one but the Finnish teenage sensation), Diandra, Mikael Gabriel, JVG and most of all Krista Siegfrids! She performed obviously her Marry me as well as the new single Amen . In true wedding tradtion to Krista's surprise a maiden heist was performed, and it was for a moment unclear if it was the beginning of her hen party or not? Later she went to Bieber's concert along with other 12.000 fans in sold out Hartwall Arena as well and commented that he's cute, and if he proposed she'd say yes! And she said she'd keep eye on the show to find possible new ideas... Today she'll be entertaining the crowds again in the Linnanmäki amusement park's opening party in a free open air affair. Another occasion to catch pheunomia as t...

WklVids: Lara Fabian, Gianna Nannini, Isac Elliot, Man Meadow

This week we start with Eurovision 1988 entrant Lara Fabian and her latest release Deux ils, deux elles , her contribution to the wordlwide equal marriage debate and a very beautiful song indeed. Gianna Nannini has also a great track out, Indimenticabile .  La Nannini also created a debate in her native Italy when she became mother at the tender age of 56 a couple of years ago. She's ready to hit the road again with another tour and new album! She also wrote Marco Mengoni's other Sanremo track, Bellissimo . Move over Justin Bieber, here comes 13-year-old Finnish Isac Elliot from Espoo with his New way home , already noted by Billboard as one of the ten names to keep eye on... Last but not least a bit older track. Swedish Man Meadow has also been to the States to film their video for How does it feel . Good stuff.
