Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

The hugely successful and polar duo has left Sanremo after five years. Whoever follows them has to face a similar situation as UMK2024 artists had to do post-Käärijä. Nothing is good enough. Artic director and host Amadeus and co-host Fiorello, after celebrating Angelina Mango's victory on stage walked out of Teatro Ariston hand in hand, stepped into their Cinderella carriage with horses and drove to sunset, or as it was Sanremo final night to dawn. All that after scoring a record breaking 90,7% share in the viewing figures as nearly 9 million Italians were still clued to their tv-screens to see them off. Earlier in the evening they reached 18,259 million and 85% share at 01.56 when the Top-5 super finalists were announced. How can you beat that? Tonight the remaining 15 acts will perform, presented by those they presented and who performed last night. That is one wonderful idea and is apparently liked by everyone, the artists included! The voting tonight is just like last night, 50-50 for the radios-televote.  Comedian, actress, tv-host and author Teresa Mannio will be co-hosting so this sounds like a step back in time compared to those excellent fresh unusual choices of past two night, Marco Mengoni and Giorgia.  And yes, there's a long list of guests: Russell Crowe (unless he has escaped if he saw the Travolta treatment last night), Eros Ramazzotti celebrating 40 years of Terra promessa, artists Gianni Morandi, Stefano Massini with Paolo Jannacci, actors Sabrina Ferilli and Edoardo leo promoting their new fictions. Last night 15 acts performed and the voting was 50-50 by radios and televoters and the ranking went all upside down on the top: Geolier first, Irama second. Annalisa, Loredana Berté and Mahmood managed to keep their Top-5 going on.  The Fantasanremo thingy is getting very annoying as the artists are collecting points by wearing black, sunglasses, giving flowers to conductors, kissing people in the audience, taking the broom on stage and other stupid things that get very tiring in the end. Especially in the wardrobe as if I counted right 11 out of 15 wore black. Clara stands out even more so as the real beauty of elegance this year sporting another stunning gown last night. Tonight the second Sanremo 2024 night takes place in Teatro Ariston. Next to Amadeus will be singer and Sanremo winner Giorgia who has the hard task of following Marco Mengoni who seems to have convinced everyone last night as a showman, comic and host besides singer. There's already a demand for his own show on Rai1 sometime i the future, or at least his presence every night this year in Sanremo. Poor Giorgia. Amadeus did it again! Or he outdid himself. Sanremo 2024 started with a bang. Record breaking shares and viewing figures. 65,1% share! That's highest since 1995. Or 10.561.000 viewers in average. The first part was 64,34% or 15.075.000 viewers in average and the second part 66,85% or 6.527.000, mind you the show ended around 2am, actually before than scheduled! Now that's a record, too! The most viewers had Annalisa's performance with 16,5 million viewers in front of their television that time. The highest share was during Mahmood's performance in the first half (69,2%) and Bigmama's performance at 00.15 in the second part: 70,13% In social media hashtag #sanremo2024  was used over 1,4 millio times during the show and the most mentioned there was Marco Mengoni with 212.000 hits followed my Mahmood with 181.000.  And let's not forget his success as creating hits as well, last year is a good example, read more here . 

The 74th Festival della canzone italiana kicks off in legendary Teatro Ariston in Sanremo tonight. The artistic director and main host is once again Amadeus for the 5th year, officially his last but there's demand from Rai for him to do it again next year. His festivals have been not only viewing successes but also an endless source for multiplatinum scoring hits. The first night's co-host is none other than last year's winner and Eurovision 2023 4th placed Marco Mengoni who will open the night with his winning entry (and the most streamed Italian song abroad) Due vite. Singer and Sanremo winner Giorgia will co-host second night, comedian/actress Teresa Mannio 3rd, showgirl Lorella Cuccarini 4th and finally legendary funny man Fiorello the final.  Among the artists Eurovision veterans Mahmood, Emma, Il Volo and Ricchi e Poveri with Diodato. Mahmood famously won Sanremo giovani 2018 securing a spot in the Sanremo 2019 line up and went on to win it with Soldi, and placing 2nd at the Eurovision , not so far behind eventual winner Duncan Laurence. This year three acts will earn a place in the Sanremo 2024 line up with 27 other acts, including Mahmood aiming for his third win, along with previous Eurovision entrants Ricchi e Poveri ( ESC 1978 ), Emma ( ESC 2014 ), Il Volo ( ESC 2015 ) and Diodato who missed his chance in 2020 when the contest was cancelled. Mahmood may be an exception to have had such success among the Sanremo giovani qualifiers but this year we may have another one that could maybe go all the way. Because it's all furore, a positive one in Sanremo as Amadeus tops himself again and scored the best audience for the 2nd night since 1995 as well: 10.545.000 viewers in avergae the whole show, with a share of 62,3% . RaiPlay has broken all the record reaching 1,700.000 viewers, +74% compared to last year! If Blanco caused chaos the first night on stage, last night it was Fedez from the cruise ship but let's concentrate on music. There was a lot of good music yesterday and tonight we will see and hear all the 28 songs again for a second judging, probably new looks and outfits and most likely someone who under performed before will shine bright, and the other way round. 73rd Sanremo festival will kick of tonight at Teatro Ariston in Saremo. The formula is pretty much the same as previous years when Amadeus has been in charge, his year number 4 out of 5 confirmed - just more young artists and more songs making the super final come Saturday night!  Tonight, the first night Amadeus will be hosting with  Eurovision veteran Gianni Morandi and influencer Chiara Ferragni, Mahmood and Blanco will be on stage singing their winning entry and Euroviison 6th placed Brividi , and Blanco will present his new single L'isola delle rose as well.
