Another song from 1982 Azimut album, actually Messaggio single's B-side. A very atmospheric song written by Alice herself. The song would reappear in a new version in 1987's Elisir album. This has always been a favorite of mine that I tend to sing to myself quite often. And as often it switches at some point to Arisa's Sanremo 2012  runner La notte .... Italy took its well deserved third victory - finally! - at the Eurovision song contest 2021. Over the years several other Italian entries would have been worthy winners. In this series I will go through all of them from the worst ranking to the winner s. Sanremo 2912 was won by Emma Marrone and Non è l'inferno (after top-3 new voting, after first voting she was only 3rd behind Arisa and Noemi who won the first round), bur Rai had decided to pick up the one for Eurovision for reasons they know only themselves - or maybe among those who and their labels that were willing to do it - and they chose Nina Zilli. Her Sanremo song Per sempre , that placed 7th was first announced the one for Baku 2012, but was later changed to L'amore è femmina from her new album, and re-recorded with partly English lyrics and co-written with the usual Eurovision songwriters from Sweden and US. Oh my. It is also the only year they searched outside Sanremo for the entry. Big mistake! Sanremo 2014 was won by Arisa who is wel known to dream of Eurovision, and Controvento . Instead we got Emma Marrone (37) and somewhat medicore song in her catalogue, La mia cittá .  It was like a flashback to the 70's when the entries were not from Sanremo and finished mid table or lower... Emma however was the Sanremo 2012 winner with Non è l'inferno and even 2011 runner up with Arriverà (with Modà). In 2010 she won the talent show Amici and has been a top selling artist ever sin...

It's been long four nights so far and the longest one is yet to come tonight. I must admit I haven't been able to stay up every night but that's not because of the length but because it's been a bit.... well, boring. Only the second night or Wednesday was very entertaining with a string of interesting guests and fantastic go-hostess Elodie . Also this year I don't have very clear favorites - at the moment it's Colapesce Dimartino only - and in terms of Eurovision it looks all very uncertain. If the guests performances ( Elodie and Mahmood ) are the best thing we have a problem. In short I guess I need more Fiorello in my nights because everytime he enters the stage it's fun (who would have thought!) and otherwise not so much..... The viewing figures have been highest on the first night (almost 11,2 million) and in media around 7-8  million or 42-46% share), lowest for years.  This said Gaudiano , my favorite by far, won the Newcomers last night and just wh...

Tonight's the final of 69th Festival della Canzone Italiana aka Sanremo. Who's going to win? The race is still very open and the revealed partial votings per night haven't but confused the matters even more. If we go for standing ovations Loredana Bertè should be the winner but she's been unlucky in Sanremo before even though this year it seems like she might do it, there's strange - but well deseerved - let's support Loredana thing going on. While the various groups may have very different preferences the winner is a compromise that must be liked by all of them, unless someone really dominates the televotes, like Ultimo or Il Volo, while press votes for Cristicchi and Mahmood... The top contenders to make the top-10 I suppose are in no particlar order Bertè, Silvestri, Ultimo, Cristicchi, Irama, Il Volo, Nek and Renga not forgetting Arisa, Mahmood, Turci and Carta/Shade.
