Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

The submission for the Eurovision song contest 2016 are already underway for example in Sweden and Switzerland, but Finland has already closed its search today. UMK 2016 team will now listen to the entries and pick up a certain number of them for the televised selection process next year. How many entries were sent we don't know (yet) and maybe never. Last year they didn't give us any number I recall.... Meanwhile in Denmark, where the submission window for Dansk melodi Grand Prix is also already closed, DR proudly declares 982 entries! A new record beating that of 2014 with tens songs. That year the eventual winner Only teardrops by Emmelie De Forest was among them..... Maybe the local songwriters are aiming for a triplet: the last two times the contest has been held in Sweden Denmark has won..... Furthermore the DMGP is refreshed with a new man in charge, Cutfather. The Danish final will take place on February 13, 2016. 

Four cities, or should I say towns? remains in the race for the Eurovision 2014 in Denmark. Aalborg withdraw in the last minute but we have the offerings of Copenhagen, Horsens, Herning and Fredericia.  Copenhagen remains the front runner thanks to its Parken , the venue of the (most horrible ever) Eurovision 2001. However, the size of the arena would most likely to be reduced this time from its 38.000 capacity. Copenhagen would also have enough of hotel rooms and other stuff required for hosting.... UPDATE: Copenhagen has proposed apparently to other options as well: Bella Center that has good transport connections and has already hosted MTV Music awards and has capacity of 20.000. Ballerup Super arena has a capasity of over 9.000 so it could be used as well... Boxen in Herning is suitable size (15.000) but the city itself lacks most everything else, but Århus next door could help with that. But will it all be a bit too complicated then?  Fredericia 's Messe C ...

That's what the town of Horsens intend to do in case they get it. Welcome city number 5 to bid for it. Most likely one of those "what the heck, let's go for it and get some free publicity!" campaigns and indeed it works: I'm writing about it, too, and moment ago I didn't even know a town like this exists :-) But if the name rings a bell, it may be because they already hosted the national final back in 2005, 2007 and 2008. And an open air affair with 10.000 people standing in local prison is their offer. Not a chance I'd say but the idea is rather amusing, isn't it? And Horsens is also Nokia's twin town in Finland. Would Nokia sponsor it then?
